Throughout the series, Yuji Itadori has repeatedly proven himself to be one of the most powerful and gifted sorcerers in the entire world of Jujutsu Kaisen. Because of his exceptional talents as a sorcerer, many believe that he has firmly placed himself at the forefront of the list of strongest characters in the series.

However, his journey to become one of the strongest wasn't an easy one, since he fought many powerful opponents who almost killed him multiple times throughout Jujutsu Kaisen. In this article, let's go over the 4 strongest opponents that Yuji fought who should have won the fight had it not been for one specific reason or another.

The Finger Bearer Technically Did Defeat Yuji

Saved By Sukuna

  • The Special Grade Cursed Spirit.

Being the Cursed Spirit born from the Cursed Energy tied to one of Sukuna's fingers, the Finger Bearer was an exceptionally powerful foe who almost killed Yuji. In fact, many outright state that the Cursed Spirit won this fight, since he managed to blow off Yuji's arm and had him at death's door until Sukuna himself came into the picture.

Upon his awakening in this fight, Sukuna originally planned to ally himself with the Finger Bearer in order to go out and massacre innocents, but once he realized that the Curse viewed him as an opponent, he quickly turned the tables. Due to Sukuna's unrivaled power, he managed to humiliate the Special Grade Cursed Spirit, eventually unleashing Malevolent Shrine to slice the villain into smaller pieces. Though this wasn't technically a Yuji victory, it still counts.

Mahito's Technique Worked On Everyone Aside From Yuji

Yuji's Most Hated Opponent

  • A sadistic villain.

Yuji and Mahito fought multiple times throughout the course of Jujutsu Kaisen, with each of their battles cementing Mahito as one of the most sadistic and evil creatures in the series. Mahito had been born with Idle Transfiguration, which is one of the most deadly Cursed Techniques in the entire series, since a single touch can turn even a powerful Jujutsu sorcerer into a bumbling Transfigured Human.

Using this power, he even killed Kento Nanami, who is a legendary sorcerer. However, due to Sukuna's presence within Yuji's body, Mahito could never use his Cursed Technique on the young sorcerer, which meant that he always had a built-in defense against arguably the strongest Cursed Technique in Jujutsu Kaisen. If this wasn't the case, it's hard to argue that Mahito wouldn't have easily dealt with Yuji.

Jujutsu Kaisen: The Best Moments of Season 3, Ranked

Season 3 of JJK has many incredible moments, so let's take a look at the best ones fans can expect to see.

Higuruma Could Have Struck Yuji Down With A Single Touch

Effects of his Domain

  • The most talented sorcerer.

Higuruma was one of the standout new characters introduced in the Culling Game. Though he eventually ended up as one of Jujutsu High's most indispensable allies during the Shinjuku Showdown arc, he was initially an opponent whom Yuji had to face in the Culling Game and one who almost killed the main character in their altercation.

In the fight, Higuruma opened his Domain Expansion and immediately confiscated Yuji's Cursed Technique, proceeding to overwhelm the young sorcerer for the rest of the fight. However, towards the end, it was revealed to him that Sukuna was behind the destruction in Shibuya, not Yuji, which made him drop his guard and take the final hit from Yuji on purpose. If he had not done so, his Executioner's Sword would have killed Yuji immediately.

Sukuna Was The Strongest Sorcerer Who Took Down Gojo

Would've Lost Without The Rest Of The Heroes

  • Fated opponents.

The fates of Sukuna and Yuji have been intertwined, seemingly for 1000 years since that is how long Kenjaku has been planning everything. Because of this, they were always destined to battle, and they finally did so at the end of the original Jujutsu Kaisen franchise. However, the power gap between them was astronomical, since the only one who could even hope to match the King of Curses was none other than Gojo himself, the strongest sorcerer of the modern era.

However, after the incredible battle between the two strongest sorcerers, Sukuna's energy stores were almost entirely depleted, which was the go-ahead that the rest of the heroes needed in order to jump into the battle in a gauntlet against him. However, even then, the entire might of the rest of the heroes was only barely enough to defeat him, with Yuji managing to get the final blows. In any other circumstance, Yuji, or anyone else for that matter, simply wouldn't be enough to even touch a full-powered Sukuna.
