Jujutsu Kaisen: 7 Greatest Achievements Of Sukuna In Shinjuku Showdown

Sukuna was a powerhouse in the Shinjuku Showdown arc. Here are his biggest achievements in JJK's final arc.

By

It is clear for the fans to see which characters were the best ones in JJK, and at the same time, which characters were wasted by the author, Gege Akutami. Unfortunately, in a series like JJK, which started brilliantly, fans had never expected to see too many wasted characters. However, with the way it was handled later down the line, there's clearly an abundance of characters who could have been so much more. For one reason or another, Gege failed to deliver a fitting storyline or conclusion to many characters, including some of the main cast.

Yuki Tsukumo

  • Sorcerer Rank: Special Grade
  • Cursed Technique: Star Rage
  • Domain Expansion: Yes, But Unknown

Yuki Tsukumo was an incredibly powerful character whom fans knew to be a Special Grade sorcerer; she was one of the mightiest fighters in the story who was essentially wasted in the Culling Game. Yuki's character served very little purpose in the story, and fans did not even get a proper chance to see her progress beyond a single battle.

Yuki was given the chance to showcase her abilities against Kenjaku but was then killed in the very same fight. Her ideologies, her dreams, along with much else, were stripped away from her within a couple of chapters, and that was truly a shame, because this character, given her level of strength and the abilities that she possessed along with the dreams that she had, could have offered much more to the story.

Tsumiki

  • Sorcerer Rank: None
  • Cursed Technique: None
  • Domain Expansion: No

Tsumiki was Megumi's sister and one character who was often used as a plot device by Gege to drive Megumi forward on his path in life. However, eventually, Tsumiki died, despite being a major reason for the Culling Game happening. Fans did not even get to see this character properly, beyond the few interactions with Megumi in flashbacks. Tsumiki and Megumi had an incredibly heartwarming dynamic that could have been explored in the story further had she lived.

Furthermore, given the suffering that she had to deal with and how hard Megumi tried to save her, she should certainly have survived and added more depth to the story. Gege could've built her character and added further to Megumi's own.

Kinji Hakari

  • Sorcerer Rank: Unknown
  • Cursed Technique: Private Pure Love Train
  • Domain Expansion: Idle Death Gamble

Kinji Hakari was known to be one of the strongest sorcerers of the next generation. In fact, Gojo considered him to be one of the gems who could one day potentially reach his level. However, that did not happen because Hakari never truly got the chance to shine, especially in Shinjuku Showdown. There, he was seen going up against Uraume, and much to the surprise of the fans, they did not even get to see a proper page of them engaging in combat. Everything about him, from his potential, to his skill, remained unexplored in this arc and fans truly didn't enjoy his character arc at all.

Utahime

Utahime Jujutsu Kaisen Characters Wasted By Gege Akutami
  • Sorcerer Rank: Semi-Grade 1
  • Cursed Technique: Solo Forbidden Area
  • Domain Expansion: No

Utahime is one of the many wasted female characters in JJK. It is safe to say that the biggest thing that she has accomplished in the series up to this point is helping Gojo charge his 200% Hollow Purple, which marked the beginning of his fight against Sukuna.

Other than that, she added nothing to the story, and removing her entirely from the plot would change absolutely nothing. That goes to show how much potential Gege wasted with her character. Unfortunately, she never got a moment of shine in the story.

Mei Mei

Mei Mei Jujutsu Kaisen Characters Wasted By Gege Akutami
  • Sorcerer Rank: Grade 1
  • Cursed Technique: Black Bird Manipulation
  • Domain Expansion: No

Mei Mei is yet another sorcerer who doesn't add much to the story, but her case is rather different from Utahime's. While Utahime does not affect the plot in any way, Mei Mei certainly has her moments. However, it is because of that that fans are frustrated with her involvement in the story. Mei Mei could have been so much more if the author decided to push her to her limits, and at the same time, have her fight for her ideals, which revolve around money.

At the same time, Gege could've showcased her true abilities. In a battle shonen, where a character’s worth is decided by how they fight, Mei Mei was always sidelined, which ruins her character.

Megumi Fushiguro

  • Sorcerer Rank: Grade 2
  • Cursed Technique: Ten Shadows Technique
  • Domain Expansion: Chimera Shadow Garden

Megumi Fushiguro is one of the main characters of JJK, and while he was handled quite well in the story for the most part, in the Culling Game, he was taken over by Sukuna. Sukuna's control over Megumi was only relinquished in the last few chapters of the story, which essentially meant that for a big chunk of it, Megumi was essentially just a vessel for the King of Curses, and all his character progression, along with personal goals, simply didn't matter anymore.

It would've been one thing if Megumi was shown growing after the Sukuna battle, but since that's where the story ended, his whole character arc felt pointless.

Kenjaku

  • Sorcerer Rank: Special Grade
  • Cursed Technique: Brain Transplant, Cursed Spirit Manipulation (Geto), Antigravity (Kaori)
  • Domain Expansion: Womb Profusion (Geto)

Kenjaku is one of the biggest antagonists in JJK. Much to the surprise of the fans, he met his end in the Shinjuku Showdown arc, where he was beheaded by Yuta with a single swing of his sword and then killed.

Kenjaku was killed in the most absurd manner, and, given his role as a major antagonist, it was truly shocking for the fans to see all the potential that he had being wasted by Gege in a single chapter.

Nobara Kugisaki

  • Sorcerer Rank: Grade 3
  • Cursed Technique: Straw Doll Technique
  • Domain Expansion: No

By far, Nobara is the most wasted character in JJK. Known to be one of the three main characters in the series, Nobara was always given less shine compared to Megumi and Yuji, but things went from bad to worse for her when she was injured in Shibuya.

From there onwards, she did not return in the story right up until the very end, where she contributed by launching an attack and aiding Yuji in his battle against Sukuna. She had already remained absent for over half of the story, and at that point, even bringing her back wouldn't save the handling of the character. Nobara had tremendous potential and Gege could have done much more with her character, but chose not to.
