With more and more fans getting into the series, the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom also grows to be more cruel at times. A single wrong choice, a single lost battle, an emotionally messy scene, and a character will become a meme. “Fraud.” “Bum.” “Useless.” It is funny until you understand how many times these poor characters are made fun of. Moral gray areas and impossible decisions, in a series created based on trauma, it is impossible to judge characters based on their outcomes only.
Not all imperfect characters are badly developed. Not all losses amount to incompetence. And not all the questionable acts of morality make one inseparable. These eight characters are dragged everywhere, yet when you read what Gege Akutami is actually trying to convey, the hate usually speaks more to the fandom than to the character.
7 Biggest Survivors Of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Brutal Shinjuku Showdown Arc
The Shinjuku Showdown arc in JJK was brutal and almost took out many fan-favorite characters.
8 Yoshinobu Gakuganji
Gakuganji is often demonized as the conservative of the old guard, who executed Yaga under his orders and was targeting Yuji. Readers perceive him as a dull instrument of the top management that thwarted development. As a matter of fact, he was also a victim of the system who felt he was saving the world against the uncertain danger of Sukuna.
What should be considered is that immediately after killing Yaga, he felt remorse and decided to keep the secret of Cursed Corpses, which is what most people overlook. He did not pass that power to corrupt officials, since he reserved it for the new generation. He was able to demonstrate that even a cog in the machine is capable of a conscience when it count,s and this makes him much more than a mere mean principal.
7 Hana Kurusu (Angel)
Hana is also heavily criticized because she falls into the blatant Megumi act of Sukuna and loses her arm. The phrase stupid or useless is used to criticize her on the grounds that she has fallen off guard in such a high-stakes situation.
But in the end, Hana is just a young girl in love, and Sukuna is a master manipulator who knows how to take advantage of human weakness. She was not gazing at her monster; she was gazing at the boy who rescued her life several years before, which made her response so tragically human.
6 Naoya Zenin
Naoya is, perhaps, the most hated-to-love character because he is a misogynistic person and is unrealistically arrogant towards women, especially Maki. His character is objectively dreadful; however, he is a child of the corrupted environment of the Zenin clan, where being cruel and a member of the elite were encouraged. Toji and Maki’s treatment by the clan itself demonstrates that the system was evil and Naoya was only its most vocal participant.
Naoya, despite his flaws, is one of the most effective fighters in the series, having incredible speed due to the Projection Sorcery. His battle IQ is of the highest level, and fans remember his losses, but had he not been blinded by his own ego, and had he used strong cursed weapons, he probably would have won every fight. He is a tragic example of how a prestigious upbringing can turn immense talent into a tool for self-destruction.

5 Mei Mei
Mei Mei is often blamed and seen as the most greedy character in the show, and no one can forget her bizarre relationship with her brother, Ui -Ui. Both these reasons and her selfish nature make her pretty much universally hated by the fans. However, in an world where death is the order of the day, her cold realism is a realistic way of being a sorcerer.
She offers much-needed logistics, surveillance and the financial support that keeps Jujutsu High operating in the background. Although her personal life and motivations are questionable and unusual, her powers and technique, Bird Strike, is among the few that can even one-shot a Special Grade. She may not be liked much, but she does deserve a much better fate.
4 Ui Ui
Poor Ui Ui also finds himself in the middle of the hate that is directed towards his sister, Mei Mei. He is the target of memes since fans dismiss him as a creepy sidekick with an odd obsession. However, when considering the Shinjuku Showdown, Ui Ui is, perhaps, the MVP in the last arc.
The lost bodies, transfer of souls to training, or tactical retreats of the sorcerers would not have happened without his teleportation technique. He was essentially the battle medic and supply center of the war on Sukuna. He risked his life several times, and it turns out that his courage is the best one despite his peculiarities.
Jujutsu Kaisen: 7 Anime Moments Better Than The Manga
The Jujutsu Kaisen manga is amazing, but there are some things that the anime did way better.
3 Hajime Kashimo
Kashimo was no longer the God of Thunder, but rather referred to as the biggest “fraud” when he was defeated so quickly by the real form of Sukuna. This betrayed fans, who accused him of being a fraud because he never did any major damage after transforming into Mythic Beast Amber. This hate does not give attention to the fact that he was the only person who was daring enough to jump into the ring right after Gojo was killed.
Kashimo spent all his life in one moment of fulfillment against the mightiest, and he died true to his warrior ideology. He waited centuries for a worthy opponent and willingly challenged Sukuna at full strength. His loss doesn’t diminish him or his strength in any way—but it was a way of showing how strong Sukuna had become at that point.
2 Yorozu
Yorozu is frequently considered a so-called Sukuna fangirl who squandered her potential on a weird, obsessive crush. Her appearance in the Culling Games was annoying to the fans, particularly because she had the body of Tsumiki. Yorozu, however, depicts the distorted perception of love in the Heian Era as such, in which power and destruction were the sole means of communicating or connecting with someone.
She was not just a fan, she was a force who defied the King of Curses on her own conditions. Her tragedy is a solitary pursuit of what she calls love that can only be manifested by a death-to-death conflict, and makes her a dark mirror to Gojo and Sukuna. Her cursed technique was also one of the unique and strongest ones in the series, and fans think it was a shame she wasn’t given a proper plotline.
1 Megumi Fushiguro
The "Potential Man" memes have already hit their limits, as fans refer to Megumi as a “bum” because he failed to seize control of his body in the final arc. This is without the consideration that the soul of Megumi had to bear several hits of Unlimited Void, and he was also forced to watch his own sister killed by his own hands. His refusal to fight was not cowardice, it was the outcome of a complete psychological and spiritual breakdown of a teenager who lost everything.
Megumi has been shouldering the burden of the world since he was a child, and expecting him to simply wake up after such trauma is ridiculous. Others forget that his tactical brilliance and Ten Shadows were the sole cause that the group survived the initial arcs. He is no bum — he is just a shattered kid who has finally hit his limit in a world that never stopped stealing from him.
