With Jujutsu Kaisen’s main storyline being wrapped up a while ago and Modulo kicking things off in a very positive direction, Jujutsu Kaisen's story continues to go strong, but some fans still think that the original ending was a little underwhelming. Sukuna surely was a natural walking disaster, yet to some fans, the whole fight had become a tiresome endurance test. Although his strength cannot be ignored, any great final villain must have a personal score to settle, a twisted ideology to strike the hero at the heart. The King of Curses did not have the narrative he needed by the end of the series to carry such a complicated series.

With that said, let's dive into six characters that could have made the ending maybe even more impactful. Some already had great motives to begin with, some were born out of malice to destroy the very things our protagonists hold dear, while others never cause harm but had the potential to become the strongest villains ever if perhaps guided wrongly.

6 Megumi Fushiguro

Rather than a passive vessel, Megumi could have become a villain due to the trauma he suffered after losing his sister and being forced to fight his friends, and the reason his sensei is dead, too. A completely broken Megumi would be able to accept the shadows after he lost Tsumiki, and he saw his world ruined. And his resolve would not be a struggle to gain power but to destroy a world that had failed him completely.

A defeated Megumi with an uncontrolled Chimera Shadow Garden has the potential to put the whole world in a state of permanent darkness. This would then make the final battle a tragic effort by Yuji to rescue his best friend out of his own darkness, and this would give the battle a layer of personal tragedy that Sukuna, being an ancient sorcerer, could not offer.

5 Toji Fushiguro

The man who hazed the chains of fate and triggered the series into motion deserves to be on the final list. In the event Toji came back as his ghost with zero cursed energy, he would be the invisible ghost to the system, which Gege had full intentions of bringing back but was stopped by his own staff. He is the epitome of the annihilation of the Zenin family and a man who could not be controlled.

We already saw how powerful Toji was when resurrected. Imagine coming back to life in his prime. The final battle against Toji would be the clash between pure physical ability and supernatural force. It would be a circle back to the man whose actions brought Gojo to his senses and started the whole present mayhem.

4 Takaba Fumihiko

Takaba’s Powers Are Almost Boundless jujutsu kaisen
strongest sorcerers in culling game fumihiko takaba

The most dangerous and underutilized ability within the series is Takaba’s technique, Comedians, since it does not acknowledge the laws of Jujutsu at all. It’s even said in the anime that it's a technique with the potential to rival or even surpass Satoru Gojo, but Fumihiko is completely clueless of his own power. Takaba was never really taken seriously throughout the whole series, and it's a major reason why he had the potential to turn evil. In case his comedy became pessimistic, or he knew about dark humor, he would be able to re-create reality as a nightmare that cannot be escaped. There is no way to defend against a villain who believes that it would be humorous if your organs became confetti or you suddenly die the most horrific death possible.

Takaba as a villain would be horrifying in the sense that he would not even realize that he was an evil being. He would be like a reality-bending god with no sense of right and wrong, whom the sorcerers had to play by his irregular, nonsensical rules in order to live. He would be the most distinct and disturbing final boss in shōnen history.

3 Gojo Satoru

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Has Officially Revealed The True Heir Of Gojo Satoru

After Gojo’s defeat, many fans theorized that Kenjaku might take over his body and he would be the final villain of the story. Which is the ultimate bad scenario. Students would then fight their own teacher, making the man who brought them up their biggest enemy. This would become the final psychological horror, with the use of the Six Eyes to the extremest evil in the hands of the most evil man.

Yuta, Hakari, and Yuji would be shattered by the test. They would encounter not only a monster but the face of the most adored person. Forcing the new generation to "surpass" Gojo by ending his legacy with their own hands would have been a much more powerful climax.

2 Mahito

mahito-eye

Mahito is the so-called True Curse that is created due to human hatred, thus being the ideal enemy of Yuji. Had he been brought back in the last arc, under the influence of the utter hate of the Culling Game, he would be the most powerful cursed spirit ever. Their fight would be the most personal conflict. That would be empathy as opposed to mere malice.

His coming back would emphasize the process of hatred that the world of sorcery never stops. Whereas Sukuna is an ancient relic, Mahito is a living mirror of how rotten modern humanity is. The ultimate character arc would be to have a final confrontation in order to forever wipe out this display of vengeance on Yuji.

1 Kenjaku

Kenjaku in Jujutsu Kaisen

Since the beginning of the first chapter, Kenjaku has been the mastermind of all tragedies. He is not a mere powerful sorcerer, but he is an evolutionary architect who considers the entire human race as a big experiment. It is like squandering a 1,000-year-old mind that foresaw every outcome, playing out everything according to him, only to see him die to a sneak attack.

The final fight with Kenjaku would make Yuji fight with his creator and the dark history of his origin. It would change the ending, where it is a physical battle, into an ideological one between a man who views the soul as a plaything and a boy who believes in a dignified death. That fight would have given the story the resolution it needed when compared to the one with Sukuna.
