The truth is that Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has been so good that the series’s characters are good enough to stand on their own and rely on the old generation for hype. Despite that, if the plot needs for old legendary sorcerers to return, then the story simply gets that much more exciting. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has now officially brought back the legend from Shinjuku Showdown and the new strongest sorcerer, Yuji Itadori. As the previous protagonist of the series and the strongest sorcerer, Yuji is needed more than ever before as the negotiations with the Simurians continue.

Gege Akutami has been teasing the return of Yuji Itadori in Modulo for quite a while now. Yuji was mentioned right at the beginning of the story in the same breath as Gojo Satoru, which gave some fans an idea of how strong he'd truly become over the years. More recently, after Tsurugi finished his battle against Takeda and passed out, fans saw Mahito in limbo once again, waiting for the death of Yuji Itadori so that the two could meet. In other words, this was Gege's confirmation to the fans that Yuji Itadori was now officially alive.

In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 10, Gege Akutami finally reintroduced Yuji Itadori properly. This time around, Yuji was shown walking in a heavy crowd, towering over them all. It seems that Yuji left the sorcerer organization years ago and works independently, or simply just vanished. But, at the moment, Japan absolutely needs Yuji Itadori, and that's a very smart move from Gege. This way, he has now officially brought back a legendary sorcerer from Shinjuku Showdown in the story, 68 years later.
Japan Is Officially Searching For Yuji Itadori To Act As A Deterrent
While Gege Akutami confirmed the return of Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, he also revealed to the fans why his return matters. At the moment, Japan faces quite a dangerous situation. Simurians are upon the earth, with their hopes of coexisting with the humans. However, the Simurians are also very powerful. If negotiations with the humans break down, they have enough power to take over Japan by force.

This is especially true as they have a monster even rivaling Ryomen Sukuna, named Dabura. Yuji Is The Strongest Sorcerer In JJK
By confirming Yuji Itadori as a deterrent against the Simurians, Gege Akutami also confirms to the fans that he is the strongest sorcerer in Japan at the moment. Yuji is the only one they have that's strong enough to face off against Dabura and protect his people.
This also means that after Gojo Satoru, Yuji Itadori was the one who became the strongest in Japan, and he most likely held this title as the likes of Yuta and Megumi got older, while he maintained his youth.
