Gege Akutami Officially Confirms A Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel Manga

The last week has been quite an insane ride for Jujutsu Kaisen fans. Not only did new news concerning JJK Season 3 come out, along with a new movie being announced, but it was also revealed that Gege Akutami, the creator, is returning with a new manga.

Gege is creating a new manga series, titled Mojuro, and for a while, fans thought this would be a whole new series. Gege, however, has revealed that this new manga is actually a Jujutsu Kaisen sequel, as is quite clear from the full title. Earlier today, the full name of the manga was revealed to be Jujutsu Kaisen 3: Mojuro. Fans are very excited, to say the least. Gege even dropped a new long message to the fans that reveals his outlook on this new manga and how long it will run for.

Jujutsu Kaisen Ended in 2024, But It Now Has a New Sequel

Jujutsu Kaisen ended in a rushed manner back in 2024, about a whole year ago now. Many fans were disappointed, to say the least. But now, Gege is making a comeback, and fans have very high expectations concerning what’s to come with Gege’s new manga, Jujutsu Kaisen 3: Mojuro.

A lot has been revealed about this manga now, and Gege himself confirms in a new message that this manga will run on for 3 volumes and last around 6 months. This is huge, and means this sequel could have over 30 chapters.

“Hello, it’s Akutami. It’s been a while. While serializing Jujutsu Kaisen, I received several offers for spinoffs written by others. However, because manga is a medium where things can easily get out of my control, I was afraid of the title spreading in ways I couldn’t manage, so at the time, I couldn’t accept those offers. But when this particular offer came, and I thought about how it might expand the main story, delve deeper into its setting, or even shift eras entirely, I realized that if it were set in a parallel line, it could open the door to many different projects. This became the spark that gave rise to ‘Mojuro,’ which originally didn’t even have a single concrete idea, and after numerous planning meetings, it finally came to life. This will be a short-term serialization, about half a year, collected in roughly 3 volumes.

Jujutsu Kaisen 3’s first chapter is actually dropping very soon. Jujutsu Kaisen 3 starts serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump starting this very Sunday, on September 7, 2025. Fans are hyped to see what Gege came up with, especially as the first chapter is 54 pages long, about triple the usual chapter size. Previous characters, now old, such as Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi returning would be a huge treat for fans.

Gege's New Manga Focuses On Yuta’s Grandkids

Yukka And Tsuruji Okkotsu Are The Protagonists

While not much is known about Gege Akutami's new manga yet, fans know for a fact that it will focus on the grandkids of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin. The names of the protagonists are Yukka Okkotsu and Tsuruji Okkotsu. It seems that the story is set decades after the Shinjuku Showdown arc, and both Yuta and Maki are already dead at this point.

There is a lot that needs to be explored still. Fans don't know what the fate of Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara is, and what exactly is threatening Japan at the moment. Fans will definitely enjoy this manga to the fullest as their favorite world will be explored once again, and hopefully, the story that Gege Akutami wrote is just as good as the main story.
