  • An anime adaptation of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 7, Steel Ball Run, has been confirmed, but the release date is pending.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has just retconned the lore of a major character in the franchise . JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 9, titled JOJOLands, has been in serialization for a few years now, and fans are eagerly awaiting the story to head to its climax — there are reasons to believe that Part 9 will be the last.

However, the announcement of the upcoming JoJo magazine brought a different surprise — a major change in how a specific character has been perceived up to this point, which could also mean a change to how the JoJo multiverse works.

What Has Been Revealed About JoJo's Bizarre Adventure?

One of the latest posts on the official JoJo Magazine's account on X makes an interesting remark about Rohan Kishibe. According to the post, Rohan Kishibe from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a counterpart of the one who appears in Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan's series.

The upcoming issue of the magazine, which will be released on May 23, 2025, will feature 90 pages on Rohan as part of a special project focusing on Kishibe, who in part represents Araki himself.

What Does That Really Mean?

Rohan Kishibe was believed to be the same character in every media in which he appeared in the franchise. Beginning with Part 7, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure opens up an entirely new timeline, but with clear references to the story told from Part 1 to 6.

For example, it is clear that Johnny Joestar and Diego Brando, the main characters in Steel Ball Run (Part 7) are the counterparts of Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando from Part 1. However, the characters in the "Second Saga" of the story are very different from their counterparts in the previous saga.

However, that is not the case with Rohan: he is the same both in design and in personality, so there was no reason to believe that Rohan was a different character across multiple timelines — many fans even theorized how he could be in different timelines at the same time, since the story led readers to believe that Rohan was the same in all the stories. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has not only confirmed the multiverse, but clearly established Rohan as another character with multiple counterparts.

Steel Ball Run Anime Will Be Out Soon

The anime adaptation of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 7 was recently confirmed, but the release date for Steel Ball Run has not yet been announced. Fans are expecting the main staff to return to work on the anime, and this is a very friendly point for newcomers to start watching the series (although it would be better to watch the previous parts).

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is available to stream on Netflix, subbed and dubbed in many languages. Some seasons can be streamed for free on Pluto TV.
