JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: 8 Manga Moments That Were Censored In The Anime
Not everything from the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga made it into the anime. Here are some moments that were censored.
The sheer number of impressive battles that take place in this series is something that fans can't get enough of. Stardust Crusaders introduced Stands to make battles more dynamic than ever, leading to some battles being especially memorable.
8 Jotaro Kujo VS Noriaki Kakyoin
The First Fight That Shows Off Star Platinum's Immense Power
- Takes Place In: Who Will Be the Judge!? (Episode 2 of Stardust Crusaders)
- Victor: Jotaro Kujo
It may seem like Jotaro and Kakyoin's fight isn't all that special, but fans should realize that this was a historic conflict given the context. It was the first time Araki wrote a Stand Battle which was highly entertaining and made it clear that discarding Hamon wasn't the worst idea.
Kakyoin was brainwashed by Dio and inflicted substantial harm on Jotaro, but that didn't stop him from being pummelled by JoJo when he got within Star Platinum's attack range. An iconic punch rush followed that would become a staple of the series, and Kakyoin was soon cured to become a main hero.
7 Jean Pierre Polnareff & Noriaki Kakyoin VS J. Geil
An Important Battle Where Polnareff Finally Avenges His Sister's Brutal Demise
- Takes Place In: The Emperor and the Hanged Man, Part 1 & 2 (Episodes 10 & 11 of Stardust Crusaders)
- Victor: Jean Pierre Polnareff & Noriaki Kakyoin
Polnareff was traumatized by the brutal death of his sister and swore to find the twisted killer who performed the act by any means necessary. Finally, after reaching Calcutta, Polnareff managed to track down the criminal who used his Stand to attack enemies by using their reflections against them.
This made for a tricky stand battle that Polnareff would've lost had it not been for Avdol motivating him every step of the way. A nifty coin trick restricted J. Geil's attack window, forcing him down a predictable route as he was caught by Silver Chariot. The end of this fight marked the end of Polnareff's quest for revenge, although this criminal's mother had a bone to pick with the Frenchman.
6 Noriaki Kakyoin, Jotaro Kujo & Joseph Joestar VS Telence T. D'Arby
The Simple Act Of Playing A Video Game Feels Amazing With The Trademark JoJo Touch
- Takes Place In: D'Arby the Player, Part 1 & 2 (Episodes 40 & 41 of Stardust Crusaders)
- Victor: Jotaro Kujo & Joseph Joestar
Near the tail end of Stardust Crusaders, the Stands that the heroes encountered became more creative than ever. This led to some engaging Stand Battles that didn't get physical, with D'Arby's brother greeting the group at the entrance of Dio's mansion and goading them into playing a video game.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures: Best Female Characters, Ranked
These female characters are the very best in the JoJo universe.
Since he could predict everything that his opponents did, this made it easy for Telence to steal Kakyoin's soul. However, his loss was sealed when Jotaro grabbed the controls, with Joseph's Hermit Purple allowing him to cheat and win the video game. What followed is a satisfying punch rush as the younger D'Arby brother was taken out of commission.
5 Noriaki Kakyoin VS Death Thirteen
A Unique Stand Battle Against A Literal Infant
- Takes Place In: Death Thirteen, Part 1 & 2 (Episodes 19 & 20 of Stardust Crusaders)
- Victor: Noriaki Kakyoin
The fact that an infant could be a captivating villain was a testament to Death Thirteen's powers. He invaded an enemy's dreams and tried to take them out in their sleep, with Kakyoin failing to convince anyone that this baby was evil.
It was only when he kept his Stand active that Hierophant Green could enter the dream world and give Death Thirteen a taste of his own medicine. The baby was promptly dropped off at another town before the group moved on with their adventure.
4 Jean Pierre Polnareff, Muhammad Avdol & Iggy VS Vanilla Ice
A Deadly Stand Battle With Two Notable Casualties
- Takes Place In: The Mist of Emptiness, Vanilla Ice, Part 1, 2 & 3 (Episodes 42-44 of Stardust Crusaders)
- Victor: Jean Pierre Polnareff
One of the most brutal stands in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Vanilla Ice's Cream was powerful enough to eliminate everything in a vacuum. It's a ridiculous Stand that roped three members of the group into a fatal duel.
Both Avdol and Iggy lost their lives, and Polnareff decided to avenge their deaths by using Vanilla Ice's vampirism against him. He tricked the villain into stepping in front of a curtain that he ripped up, causing the heinous villain's body to burn to a crisp in one of the most satisfying ends to a fight in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
3 Jean Pierre Polnareff & Muhammad Avdol VS Cameo
Features Avdol's Return And A Wish-Granting Stand
- Takes Place In: Judgement, Part 1 & 2 (Episodes 21 & 22 of Stardust Crusaders)
- Victor: Jean Pierre Polnareff & Muhammad Avdol
Judgement is one of the most interesting Stands in the series, posing as a genie that supposedly brings back Avdol and Sherry, only for Polnareff to find out that both of them are zombies. Thankfully, the real Avdol came back and revealed that he was alive before turning the tide of battle in a flash.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Every Ending Song, Ranked
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has some incredible ending songs, but not all of them are equally amazing.
They managed to nullify Judgement's threat before locating the Stand User's air pipe. With a disgusting and unorthodox method, the duo forced Cameo to emerge from the underground before giving him the beatdown of a lifetime.
2 Joseph Joestar, Jean Pierre Polnareff & Jotaro Kujo VS Daniel J. D'Arby
An Intense Poker Battle With A Memorable Conclusion
- Takes Place In: D'Arby the Gambler, Part 1 & 2 (Episodes 34 & 35 of Stardust Crusaders)
- Victor: Jotaro Kujo
The gambling battle against the older D'Arby brother is Stardust Crusaders at its very best. Fans can't help but love this stylish encounter and how Jotaro decides to deal with this cheater.
His confidence is so overpowering that D'Arby doubts his chances of winning despite having a killer hand. Jotaro's constant raises don't help things, with his final demand to learn of Dio's power being so egregious that D'Arby admitted defeat, with his soul turning into a poker chip courtesy of his own Stand as the rest of the group regained their senses.
1 Jotaro Kujo, Jean Pierre Polnareff, Noriaki Kakyoin & Joseph Joestar VS Dio
The Final Fight Where Dio's Powers Finally Come To Light
- Takes Place In: Dio's World, Part 1, 2 & 3 and The Faraway Journey, Farewell Friends (Episodes 45-48 of Stardust Crusaders)
- Victor: Jotaro Kujo
The final fight against Dio was a long time in the making, with the heroes struggling to figure out why this villain was so strong. Kakyoin lost his life and Joseph was drained of his blood, leaving no one but Jotaro to duke it out with Dio.
After learning of Dio's ability to stop time, Jotaro slowly realized that Star Platinum could use the same power. He slowly adapted to Dio's time-stops during the battle before eventually landing some solid hits that took Dio by surprise. Even his road roller wasn't enough to crush Jotaro, who unleashed one final punch rush to defeat the main antagonist of Stardust Crusaders.
