Summary

  • Unique Colony Stands in JoJo have utility beyond combat and can aid in healing, like Pearl Jam.
  • Talented Colony Stands, like Sex Pistols, redirect bullets for effective attacks, working with its user.
  • Metallica, a lethal Stand, uses magnetism to cause internal injuries and control other Stands.

Colony Stands are among the most interesting variants of Stands in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Stands in general have the ability to do massive damage, some even to their users, but this is not always the case. Unlike most Stands, which tend to be individual beings, Colony Stands are typically a collective. This feature lends them a bit more utility than their individual counterparts in some respects. However, the power of each individual Stand in the colony is not typically equivalent to that of the average Stand.

Among the Stands in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, certain ones rise above the rest. Which are the most powerful?

Nonetheless, these Stands have a variety of skills that differ from the typical Stands, and have a lot of utility beyond combat. This list will cover the best Colony Stands, primarily with practicality taken into account, as few have direct combat ability.

Debut chapters listed correspond to the parts themselves, rather than the series overall, as do the anime episodes.

6 Brain Storm

User: Urban Guerilla

Brain Storm, purple shaped burr puzzle stands that devour flesh
  • Appears in: Part 8: JoJolion
  • Debut: Chapter 66 (Manga)

Urban Guerilla's Stand is essentially a flesh-eating disease he can transmit through his hands. The Colony appears to resemble burr puzzles and is quite small. While not practical as a direct combatant, it is a devastating ability that could potentially catch many stronger users off-guard.

Brain Storm is incurable, requiring immediate amputation upon successfully making contact with its targets. That said, it is hampered by one weakness: it is easy to wash away provided it has not yet penetrated the body.

5 Pearl Jam

User: Tonio Trussardi

Pearl Jam Stand JoJo
  • Appears in: Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable
  • Debut: Chapter 40 (Manga), Episode 10 (Anime)

The non-combative nature of Pearl Jam does not prevent it from being one of the best and most unique abilities in the series. It takes the form of tomato-like monsters. This Colony Stand, operated by Tonio Trussardi, is one of his many ingredients in the kitchen. Trussardi's restaurant, Trattoria Trussardi, is not like most. Here, Tonio reads the palms of his customers to determine what ails them. Then, he mixes Pearl Jam into the corresponding dish.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: 5 Best Non-Combat Stands

Some stands in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure don't have abilities suited for combat, but they can still be used effectively in the right context.

This cures the customers of their identified ailments, albeit violently. Although the suspect nature of this Stand led Josuke to "fix" the food with Crazy Diamond, he ultimately discovered that Tonio was in fact a decent person, who used his Stand to help others.

4 Bad Company

User: Keicho Nijimura

Bad Company, a miniature army of sorts, alongside its user Keicho, facing Josuke
  • Appears in: Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable
  • Debut: Chapter 13 (Manga), Episode 4 (Anime)

The intricacies of Keicho Nijimura, the elder brother of Okuyasu, are reflected in his Stand, a meticulously crafted set of 60 toy-sized soldiers, as well as a variety of tanks and helicopters. This Colony Stand is an all-offense unit, capable of shooting down anything they can see coming. The infantry is described as a wall of steel, and has enough solid projectiles to destroy a wall.

During his fight with Josuke, Keicho made a further tactical maneuver, and confined the fight to a small room in his house, limiting Josuke's own ability to counter his Stand. However, Bad Company (not to be confused with the Battlefield game) has difficulty acting on the defensive, such as when Josuke reflected a missile back at Keicho.

3 Sex Pistols

User: Guido Mista

(Top to Bottom, Left to Right) Pictured: Sex Pistols 7, 6, 5, 3, 2, 1

This collection of six impish creatures is one of the most versatile combat Stands in the series. Each pistol has its own slightly different appearance and a somewhat distinct personality, which is rare even for non-colony Stands. Number 1 is the leader and typically boasts a chipper demeanor. Number 2 is a bit more mischievous, but tends to work well with Number 1. Number 3 is notably aggressive, and bullies Number 5. There is no Number 4 due to Mista's tetraphobia, stemming from a string of unlucky incidents related to the number in his youth. In its place, Number 5 is the punching bag of the group, although its status as the reserve pistol, largely induced by cowardice, makes it an effective last resort that keeps Mista alive. Number 6 mirrors Number 3 but usually keeps its aggression directed towards Mista's foes. Number 7 mirrors Number 1, and tends to be enthusiastic and willing to take initiative.

Anime: 8 Most Iconic Italian Characters

While there are few foreign characters that appear in anime, some series try to show representation by creating some memorable Italian characters.

Although not particularly powerful as individual fighters, they work well with Mista and his gun. Their primary method of attack is redirecting and riding bullets, leading to maximum damage and a much higher likelihood of those bullets hitting their intended target. The Sex Pistols can kick a single bullet in multiple directions by hitting it collectively at the same time. Mista's six-chamber is also reloaded by the pistols, which takes less time than if he did it himself.

2 Metallica

Stand User: Risotto Nero

Metallica from Jojo
  • Appears in: Part 5: Vento Aureo
  • Debut: Chapter 104 (Manga), Episode 18 (Anime)

This especially sadistic Colony Stand is a metallic collection of wormlike beings that inhabit its user, Risotto Nero's, bloodstream. As an assassin by trade, Risotto's Stand enables him to utilize magnetism, which he does to deprive the iron in his foe's bloodstream. Metallica (named after the legendary band) has enough precision to not only separate the iron from blood but reconstruct it into metallic objects, causing brutal internal injuries. Risotto also uses the Stand to add iron particles to his body, allowing him to reflect light and effectively turn invisible.

Risotto can even sic Metallica on other Stands and control them remotely, which he did with Narancia's Aerosmith in a botched attempt to kill Diavolo. Although Risotto is only seen in one fight, and loses it, it has generally been acknowledged that if his foe was literally anyone else, he would've been far more likely to win. Diavolo even has difficulty surviving the fight, needing to replenish iron by devouring frogs as well as some blood from a soccer-playing boy.

1 Harvest

User: Shigekiyo "Shigechi" Yangyu

Harvest carrying its user, Shigechi
  • Appears in: Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable
  • Debut: Chapter 70 (Manga), Episode 18 (Anime)

Per their name, these insect-like Stands are capable of harvesting a number of items. Shigechi often uses them to collect money, such as the spare change strewn throughout Morioh. They also have stingers which can inject liquid, such as alcohol, directly into a foe's bloodstream, severely hampering their fighting ability. Harvest is notably fast, being able to run far faster than the average person whilst carrying its user, who is a somewhat stocky child.

Top 26 Most Overpowered Stand Abilities In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's Stands cover a wide range of abilities, some of which are rather overpowered.

1

As a combatant, Harvest is tougher than one might think, as it is 500 strong, which adds up even for its relatively weak punches. Shigechi is also not above hitting vulnerable spots, such as the eyes, to maximize the damage output. Although Shigechi was ultimately killed after being hunted down by Yoshikage Kira, this was likely necessary to advance the plot of Diamond is Unbreakable. If Harvest survived, it would've easily been able to retrieve stray items that would hint towards Kira's true identity and actions much more quickly.
