This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a phenomenal series created by the famous mangaka, Gege Akutami. Over the years, Jujutsu Kaisen has become one of the biggest shonen series ever, dominating both the manga and anime industry, and, at times, surpassing even the likes of One Piece in sales during its serialization. The hype Jujutsu Kaisen generated is hard to compare with, and its conclusion certainly came as a blow to many fans.
Gege Akutami Confirms Yuji Itadori's Next Big Battle In The Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel
Yuji has a huge battle coming up against one of his worst enemies in JJK Modulo.
Luckily, Gege has returned with a sequel, a series called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. While Modulo is still relatively new, one thing has become abundantly clear, and it's the fact that in some aspects of storytelling, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo might already be superior to the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga. The story of Modulo and its characters have been handled in such a way that fans are already completely hooked, and it does that without needing the old generation characters, which is a testament to the writing quality of Gege Akutami.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Might Already Be Better Than The Original In Some Ways
- Modulo’s Writing Has Been Phenomenal
- JJK Modulo Fixes Major Issues Of The Original Series
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is the official sequel of JJK, written by the very same mangaka, Gege Akutami. Gege’s comeback after about a year of break has been received very well by fans all over the world who missed his original series immensely.
While Jujutsu Kaisen fans were going to give Modulo a read regardless of whether or not it was good, the series has actually managed to shock many. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has already proven with what little chapters it has that it holds immense potential. In certain aspects, many fans already prefer it to the original series.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo features a fresh new cast, with little input so far from old known characters, and yet, the excitement is there, and fans are still tuning in weekly to read it. The truth is, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo fixes some issues the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga struggled with.
Make Way For Gojo Satoru's True Heir In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo
Gojo is dead, but his heir is dominating JJK Modulo.
The new trio of Modulo features characters that all hold deep relevance to the plot. Yuka, Tsurugi, and Maru are all interesting and unique characters in their own ways. Meanwhile, the original series focused only on Yuji after a certain point, and even that was somewhat rushed in the end.
The Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga also has more exciting world-building than the original series, with far fewer chapters. Gege has gone out of his way to add interesting details to the aliens introduced, and he's done so incredibly well. Characters feel real and they exist on their own, not simply to serve as plot devices for the MC. Gege has even been delving into flashbacks, something he was against in the original series.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Stands as One Of The Best Official Sequels
- The New Characters are Interesting In Their Own Right
- The Story is Fresh, But Keeps The Air of Jujutsu Kaisen Alive
There’s always a big fear for fans of big series when a sequel or spin-off is announced. After all, most sequels in the past have been bad, and some even ruined the legacy of the original series for the fans with terrible treatment of the old cast to prioritize the new characters. Not only is the original cast often treated horribly, but they're often the entire appeal of the series, and without them, nobody would even bother to see what unfolds.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, at least so far, has been different. Modulo’s new cast has fans deeply invested because they are written brilliantly and they exist as their own characters. Even without the old characters, this series is incredibly exciting, and fans do hope that Gege handles other aspects of it well.
Whether Modulo will keep the quality up or stagnate is to be seen, but the signs are good so far, and the series is off to a very strong start in Weekly Shonen Jump.
Jujutsu Kaisen is currently one of the biggest shonen series in the world. The manga, which ended in late 2024, can be read online for free. It is available to access on Manga Plus, where this series used to be made available weekly. Jujutsu Kaisen currently has a sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which runs in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 9 will be released on November 2, 2025. As always, fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
