Jensen Ackles is an incredible actor who rose to fame after playing the role of Dean Winchester in the Supernatural series. Ackles was part of Supernatural for so long that, for several fans, it was hard to separate the actor from the character. In fact, Ackles' fantastic portrayal of Dean was one of the major reasons why the series lasted for fifteen seasons.
Since the end of Supernatural, Ackles has been trying his hand at a variety of projects, the most notable one being The Boys. Fans loved seeing the actor bring the character of Soldier Boy to life, and the fact that he will return in the final season of Erik Kripke's Prime Video series only adds to the anticipation for Season 5. The only sad part about it is that fans will have to wait until 2026 to see that performance. But in the meantime, there's another interesting project to look forward to that will star Jensen Ackles in the leading role, and it's arriving sooner than audiences might expect.
‘It’s F***ing Terrifying’ Supernatural Star Teases Reunion On The Boys
There is a Supernatural reunion coming on the newest season of Amazon's The Boys and one of the stars of the classic CW show seems a bit anxious.
Jensen Ackles Is Ready To Shine In The Crime Drama Series Countdown
He Will Play An LAPD Detective On A Mission To "Prevent Another 9/11"
Amazon MGM Studios announced the upcoming crime drama series last year, with Derek Haas acting as the showrunner and executive producer. Jensen Ackles is confirmed to be playing the role of Mark Meachum, an LAPD detective who will lead a covert mission to prevent a "Chernobyl-level event." It all starts with the murder of a federal officer, and while tracking down the murderer, Mark and his team step into a much darker conspiracy, which could affect the lives of millions. There's obviously someone at the top who is pulling the strings, and Mark must uncover the identity of the people who are orchestrating a massive terrorist attack.
Countdown promises great yet grounded action, accompanied by incredible performances from the entire cast, which includes Jessica Camacho, Eric Dane, Violett Beane, Uli Latukefu, and Elliot Knight. The charm that Jensen Ackles is about to bring to the screen as Mark can already be seen in the trailer. His chemistry with the rest of the cast looks amazing, and his playful dialogue delivery will surely remind several fans of the beloved Dean Winchester.
Countdown will feature a total of thirteen episodes in its first season, all written by Derek Haas. The upcoming series will premiere with the release of the first three episodes on June 25, 2025. After that, the show will follow a weekly release pattern, and the season will conclude with the release of the thirteenth episode on September 3, 2025.
Amazon's Partnership With Ackles Continues To Grow
The Actor Will Also Star In Amazon's Vought Rising Series
Ackles entered into a deal with Amazon after bagging the role of Soldier Boy in The Boys, and it seems like this partnership will continue to develop further. Jensen's portrayal of Soldier Boy was so refreshing for viewers that Amazon decided to give fans more of the actor and character through Vought Rising. Set in the 1950s, the upcoming series will act as a prequel series to The Boys, and will highlight the early and golden days of Soldier Boy. In addition to starringin the leading role in Vought Rising, Ackles is also one of the executive producers. Soldier Boy won't be the only character that will lead Vought Rising's story, though, as the prequel series will bring back Aya Cash's Stormfront in a leading role as well.
Along with that, Ackles made a cameo in another The Boys' spin-off, Gen V. His cameo was one of the best and, of course, one of the most surprising moments in Gen V's first season, so fans expect the actor to play a much bigger role in the second season. Ackles' deal with Amazon is not limited to The Boys' universe, as now, the actor is set to lead the way for the Countdown series . Of course, it's hard to say if the upcoming crime drama will meet the expectations of the fans, but the trailer sure looks amazing.
The Boys Prequel Vought Rising Should Take These Cues From Fear The Walking Dead
The Boys will continue with the prequel Vought Rising, and it could be inspired by Fear The Walking Dead's strong storytelling.
It's currently unknown whether Derek Haas intends to continue Countdown past season 1 and turn it into a multi-season adventure. However, if the show is a financial success and receives a positive reception from fans and critics, it could very well continue for multiple seasons. After seeing Jensen causing havoc as Soldier Boy in The Boys' universe, it would be refreshing to see him saving people as Mark in Countdown. Every Supernatural fan who loved seeing the charismatic Dean on screen would want Countdown to stand out in the crowd as well. Fortunately, the first three episodes of Countdown are less than a month away, so we will get our answers soon.
