Harry Potter's Two-Way Mirror's Original Purpose, Explained

There is another purpose for the two-way mirror in the Harry Potter movies that wasn't explained.

Isaacs played the wickedly, albeit cowardly, evil Lucius Malfoy during the Harry Potter movies. He brought the character to life in fantastic fashion, with his mistreatment of Dobby and his general bullying tactics always being performed with a snarl that made him easy to hate. Isaacs also ensured that nobody would sympathize with the head of the Malfoy family later in the franchise when his character began to fall on harder times. When asked by Deadline if he'd return for the HBO series, he joked, "I'm hoping to come back as Hermione. I sent my audition tape in, and I've yet to hear. But they have my number."

Of course, the 61-year-old actor was making a joke and didn't give away too much about whether or not he'd actually like to return. At this point, nobody has been officially cast in the series, but production is expected to take place on the first season in the summer of 2025. Therefore, HBO will need to get down to casting those characters involved from the start soon in order to remain on time.

There have been some calls amongst Harry Potter fans for Tom Felton to return to the world of Harry Potter in the HBO series. Many people want to see Felton take on Isaacs's previous role of Lucius, which would be an interesting twist. Felton played Isaacs's son, Draco Malfoy, in the Harry Potter movies and was one of the lead villains throughout the majority of the franchise as Harry's school enemy. The idea of him returning to then play Lucius could be interesting from that perspective, seeing how he'd take on a slightly different role from what he initially did, albeit in the same family.

Isaacs returning to the Harry Potter franchise is something that many fans would enjoy due to how talented he is as an actor. However, he falls into a familiar trap of many stars from the movies in that his performance was so memorable that it might be tough for fans to disassociate him from being Lucius, which could harm the Harry Potter television show. But if the right role was foud, there's no denying that Isaacs would be capable of putting together another great performance in this franchise.
