Wordle has another short, daily puzzle for fans all over the English-speaking world to try their hands against. Although today's word is not one of the more difficult puzzles by the New York Times Games, it's not one of the easiest either. So there will be plenty of players out there looking for rules help, strategy for winning Wordle, and even just some hints for the answer.
How To Play Wordle
As a quick note: Wordle went viral in early 2022, and that spawned a bunch of copycats. There are all sorts of different variations of the game from a cinema version of Wordle that uses movie frames, to Pokemon- themed ones, and even just direct copies. The subject of this article is the original version: the New York Times Games version. Other versions will have different answers and may have different rules. Word puzzle fans will find this version on the New York Times Games website and the New York Times Crossword app only.
Once in the right place, the first thing Wordle players have to do is choose a great word to start the puzzle off with. Some things to keep in mind when choosing a starter word are:
- All Wordle answers are five-letter words that are real and not proper nouns.
- While they can be used as guesses, Wordle answers will never be previous answers or plural nouns ending in S or ES.
- Good starting words contain five different common letters in Wordle puzzles.
- Given all these rules, the best two starting words are LATER or IRATE.
Once a great starting word has been chosen, players will need to type it into the first row of the Wordle grid with the on-browser keyboard or their device's keyboard. Press enter. This will make the letters of the starter word change colors.
- Green letters are right.
- Gray letters are wrong.
- Yellow letters are right but in the wrong position in the word.
Given these clues, try a new word. Its letters will also change colors. Players have six total tries to get to the answer of the day before they lose.
