Invincible has seen a lot of success over its two-season run, and the show’s third outing is getting a big buff to go even further by way of a large influx of A-list voice talent for new characters to be featured in the upcoming season.

Invincible has long established itself as one of the best superhero animated series outside of the dual hegemony of Marvel and DC, bringing the sort of well-written characters, humor, and stories that traditional animated shows do best from the comic book source material by Robert Kirkman together with the sort of visceral violence, gore, and mature commentary on serious issues that adult animation has always excelled at presenting well to a wider audience. As a result, the show has taken the successful IP from the comic book page to the mainstream. A large part of the show’s success has come from the voice talent, with the vocal performances being highlighted in reviews as one of the strongest parts of the production.

While the show’s creator teased more big names from his previous project joining the third season, the cast recently added a whole load of new high-level talent that exceeds all expectations. As reported by Variety, a total of nine new names have been confirmed for season three, and the characters that they’ll be bringing to life have already largely been confirmed. Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul will be taking on the role of the villain Powerplex, while Kate Mara will channel her House of Cards-level skill into playing the villain’s emotionally charged lover. Tzi Ma of Kung Fu fame will portray Mr. Liu, head of an international crime syndicate named The Order, while Futurama veteran John DiMaggio takes on the role of villainous vegetable lover known as the Elephant and Cocaine Bear’s Christian Convery becomes the voice of Mark’s alien brother Oliver, now sufficiently grown to need casting. Interestingly for fans of the comic book superhero genre, the MCU’s Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings lead Simu Liu will be portraying Dupli-Kate’s twin brother Mulit-Paul, and DC’s Blue Beetle Xolo Maridueña will take on double duty as twin heroes Fightmaster and Dropkick.

Despite this mouth-watering list of top talent, that isn’t even the end of it. Paul’s Breaking Bad co-star and Better Call Saul standout Jonathan Banks and Hellraiser’s Doug Bradley have also been confirmed to join the cast, but their roles are still being kept under wraps. While it’s possible that they’re being brought in to replace other previous voice actors, a la Ezra Miller’s replacement as DA Sinclair, thereby not qualifying them for the new role announcements like the others, the trends do seem to point to these two also taking on new characters. With no clue as to why they’re not being given the spotlight at this time, the best guess is that their roles would be plot spoilers if explained or deserve to be kept as a surprise. However, fans will have to wait until the show airs to find out which it is. All in all, this is such a massive haul of top names that it might even see a bump in viewership for the already popular show when the third season kicks off next month.

This is great news for all involved and sets the show up to keep running just as successfully as it has been. With the third season of Invincible set to kick off with a three-episode premiere and promising viewers that mid-season breaks won’t be an issue like before, fans can look forward to a pleasant and uninterrupted experience taking in the new season of the show and the debut of these new voice talents and on-screen characters. With the show’s timeline also coming up on many important events from the comic book continuity, there’s no doubt that season three will be just as exciting as what’s come before and then some.

Invincible is available to stream on Amazon’s Prime Video, with a third season expected to premiere on Feb 6, 2025.
