NetherRealm Studios' rumored Injustice 3 being in development may have more evidence after reports have indicated two of the series' voice actors have leaked their involvement. There has been no official public announcement from NetherRealm or either of the voice actors that the next game in the Injustice series is happening, but if the rumors are true, it could mean the big reveal is coming soon.

Injustice: Gods Among Us was released in April 2013, allowing fans of the DC Universe to square off as their favorite heroes and villains in a Mortal Kombat-style one-on-one fighting game. Only one sequel has been released so far, launching in 2017, and rumors of a third entry have been swirling for several years now.

Based on Injustice 1 and 2's DLC fighters, it's likely NetherRealm Studios would feature one or more Mortal Kombat characters in Injustice 3.

Two Voice Actors May Have Leaked Injustice 3's Existence

Additional recent rumors now claim that voice actors Phil LaMarr and George Newbern have been discussing working on Injustice 3 with fans. According to two separate reports, which both surfaced on August 23, each of the two actors allegedly began discussing their current work on Injustice 3 while meeting with at least one fan apiece at conventions. Newbern previously voiced Superman in both Injustice games, and also played the Man of Steel in MultiVersus, Justice League Unlimited, and multiple other animated shows and videos since 2003. LaMarr's roles in the Injustice series include Aquaman and the John Stewart version of Green Lantern, and his extensive resume also includes multiple appearances in Mortal Kombat games.

These reports were recounted on the fans' social media pages and do not have any accompanying video or audio, so it is nearly impossible to confirm whether either actor actually revealed this information. However, potential teases of a third Injustice game have been circulating since as early as 2020, when two versions of The Joker debuting in a Mortal Kombat 11 DLC had an exchange in a trailer that two of them might not be enough, saying they "could do with a third." NetherRealm has never officially stated that it will be making a third entry, and when series lead designer Ed Boone was asked about Injustice 3 at the DC FanDome event in 2020, he neither confirmed nor denied its existence, explaining that he wished he could talk about it, "but we appreciate the desire to see it."

Boone later revealed during a podcast appearance in 2023 that potential development of Injustice 3 would have to wait until after Mortal Kombat 1's launch, though he did not give a specific timetable. More recently, a cryptic post from a popular MultiVersus dataminer hinted at Injustice 3 being in development following the announcement of the former game's shutdown.
