Is There an FOV Slider in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2?

If you’ve scoured the graphics settings menu and couldn’t find an FOV slider, then your hunch is correct. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 currently lacks an in-game FOV slider, which is unfortunate given that the default FOV is too narrow and can cause discomfort for many players.

Not all hope is lost though. Thankfully, there is a way to adjust the FOV of the game by using a third-party mod. However, it's important to proceed with caution here.

The mod has only been tested in Campaign mode. Do NOT use it when playing Operations or Eternal War, as the game employs EasyAntiCheat, which could lead to a ban since altering FOV would be considered unfair to other players.

How to Change FOV in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

To change the FOV in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 using a mod, start by downloading the FOV changer developed by Deodus from NexusMods. The mod offers two options: FOV 90 and FOV 102. Select the one you prefer, or try both to see which works best for you.

Testing was conducted with version 0.4 of the FOV102 mod. This version may encounter some technical issues during Finishers or Gun Strikes. If a newer version is available, it is recommended to use that one instead.

Once you’ve downloaded the zip file, follow the instructions below:

  1. Extract the Zip File: Unzip the downloaded file into a new folder.
  2. Copy the Folder: Locate the "client_pc" folder inside the extracted files and copy it.
  3. Access the Game Directory: Open the directory where Space Marine 2 is installed on your system.
  4. Paste the Folder: Paste the copied "client_pc" folder into the root directory of the game. The following files and folders should be located in the root directory:
    • client_pc
    • EasyAntiCheat
    • server_pc
    • start_protected_game.exe
    • Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2.exe
    • Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2.ini

Now, launch the game. The FOV increase may not be immediately noticeable to the untrained eye in the Battle Barge, so start a campaign mission to fully appreciate the difference. If you’re unsatisfied with your chosen FOV, try the other option.

If you decide to revert back to the default FOV or need to switch to multiplayer modes, it’s important to remove the mod files to avoid any issues. Deleting the mod is simple, and it ensures you can play online without the risk of being banned due to EasyAntiCheat. Follow these steps to safely remove the mod:

  1. Navigate to the game directory, where Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is installed.
  2. Open the "client_pc" folder.
  3. Open the "root" folder.
  4. Delete the "local" folder, which contains the mod files.

Once these steps are completed, the game will automatically return to its default FOV settings. Now you can enjoy multiplayer modes, like Operations or Eternal War, without the worry of accidentally triggering anti-cheat measures.
