The pacing of a video game is conducive to player enjoyment. Here are some of the best fast-paced games that will get anyone's heart pumping.
Incolatus Shows Off Glittery Carnage in New Gameplay Trailer
Funny Fintan Softworks has now shared a new Incolatus gameplay trailer, which The Best War Games can exclusively reveal. The 90-second video offers a preview of some of the game's levels and highlights its movement shooter mechanics, which are meant to incentivize players to never slow down. As a mysterious character explains at one point during the trailer: "the faster you go, the more damage you deal, and the more you heal." The video ends with the promise of a "demo coming very soon," as well as a reminder that anyone intrigued by the shooter's premise can already wishlist Incolatus on Steam.
New Incolatus Trailer Also Teases the Shooter's Antagonist
The promotional clip also includes some soundbites from the game's antagonist, the leader of an evil mining company called Tigris Nix, which has overrun the alien world on which Incolatus takes place with the goal of exploiting its natural resources. This not-too-pleasant-sounding individual is repeatedly heard yelling at the protagonist for destroying shareholder value, wreaking havoc, and just being a nuisance in general. All of this is happening to the tune of Just Don't Stop Moving, an energetic pop song from the game's original soundtrack.
While Incolatus is a fast-paced arena shooter at its core, it also incorporates a dress-up system that allows players to customize their character to their heart's content. Funny Fintan Softworks says that this feature was inspired by girly dress-up games from the Flash and CD-ROM era. Players will be able to collect dress-up materials and weapon ornaments by meeting fairies scattered throughout the game's levels.

Funny Fintan Softworks still hasn't committed to a concrete release date for Incolatus, which is currently listed on Steam as "coming soon." The game has so far only been confirmed for PC. Its minimal system requirements include the Ryzen 5 3600 and GeForce RTX 2060 or an equivalent CPU-GPU combo, as well as 8GB of RAM. The developers estimate that Incolatus will take up approximately 45GB of storage space on release.
