Since then, Absurd Ventures has released A Better Paradise, a fiction podcast, with an upcoming series of graphic novels called American Caper. Absurd Marin, the company's new studio, will focus on developing video games, utilizing the expertise of the Immortals of Aveum devs.

Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser worked on some of the most acclaimed games of all time, which is why a lot of gamers are excited to see the developer build a new studio. Some of the hype surrounding Absurd Ventures is based on the hope that it can be as influential to the world of gaming as Rockstar has been and continues to be, with releases like Grand Theft Auto 6 expected to make record sales.

Rockstar Games Co-Founder Dan Houser Makes Huge Investment in Blockchain Games Studio

Rockstar Games' co-founder and former creative lead Dan House bets on the blockchain as he invests in a blockchain games studio.

Per a report by GI.biz, Absurd Ventures launched a new studio called Absurd Marin, composed of members of Ascendant Studio's ex-staff. One of the most notable new Absurd Marin team members is industry veteran Bret Robbins, who has been involved in a catalog of iconic games. Bret Robbins' experience in the game industry includes roles as tester for Gex: Enter the Gecko, extending to Sledgehammer Games' Creative Director during development for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023).

Absurd Ventures Launches Absurd Marin

A spokesperson for Absurd Marin told GI that the team includes 20 of Immortals of Aveum's core developers, stating that the team plans on expanding its staff. One of the games that Absurd is working on is currently described as "a story-driven adventure title" utilizing fresh IP. This may be exciting news to gamers who are looking to play something entirely new. After plenty of sequels released throughout the last gaming generation, plenty of new IPs have been announced by esteemed game developers. With the collective reputation for quality that various members of Absurd Marin have, there is a chance that the games it releases can impress on the same scale.

Absurd Marin is not the only recent studio made up of experienced developers to take a chance on something new, either. Stig Asmussen, who previously directed the Star Wars Jedi releases, left Respawn Entertainment and EA to create Giant Skull. The titles that many of these developers have worked on set high expectations for their new ventures, but fans of these developers' older titles will have to wait to see if their upcoming works live up to that hype.
