Johnny Yong Bosch, famous for being the voice of Ichigo Kurosaki from BLEACH, as well as Nero in the Devil May Cry video games and Dante in the Devil May Cry anime coming in April, revealed on his Instagram account on Monday that he has joined the cast of the English dub of Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-.

The last time the veteran voice actor was in an anime together with Sung Jinwoo voice actor Aleks Le was the second season of yet another manhwa/WEBTOON adaptation, Tower of God. Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow- has been immensely popular this Winter 2025 anime season, and the involvement of JYB in the series is a great addition to the series' English dub.

An S-Rank Voice Actor For an S-Rank Hunter

The role that Johnny Yong Bosch will be playing in Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow- is that of Korean S-Rank Hunter Lim Tae Gyu of the Reapers Guild, which means that the voice actor will be heard primarily in the Jeju Island Arc, which is currently in its early stages in the anime. His addition brings yet another big name to the Solo Leveling cast, and is emblematic of the care being taken in the production of the Solo Leveling English dub, which has been brilliant overall despite its recent snag during the sixth episode of Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-, the reactions to which were overwhelmingly negative.

The casting of JYB as Lim Tae Gyu makes perfect sense, and it's very likely that the actor will draw from the same bag he did when he played Izaya Orihara from Durarara!! Given Tae Gyu's calculating, pragmatic but ultimately laid-back personality; rather than the more empassioned performances JYB gives in roles like Ichigo Kurosaki or Jonathan Joestar.
