Mithril is required to smelt Mithril Ingots, which are in time required for the higher tiers of Pickaxes, Axes, and other gathering tools in Hytale. But spotting this legendary resource is not as easy as it seems. Players are roaming around the map and failing to spot it for two important reasons: its scarcity and its similarity to Silver and Iron Ore, which makes it even harder to distinguish.

But there's yet another reason Mithril is so elusive in Hytale, and this guide covers the basics for finding, mining, and smelting it into the materials required for high-end gear. Let's take a look at the basic characteristics of Mithril Veins and the conditions of their spawn in Hytale.

How To Find Mithril in Hytale

At the moment of writing this guide, Mithril spawns are deactivated by default (In World Gen 1 seeds. See notes below). But that also changed with the V2 of the game, which is slowly rolling out some changes into the game.

Mithril is in the game's resource generation tool database, so players can spawn it using console commands or the creative mode and mine it. Do mind deactivating the OP Mode to prevent breaking the veins without collecting materials, though, that would be a problem.

For natural spawns (in V2 and posterior versions of the game), Mithril is not only scarce but also hard to spot. As mentioned before, distinguishing Mithril from Silver and Iron is a bit tricky. Here's a comparison between the three veins so you can see for yourselves, with Mithril at the far left, then Silver, and Iron.

In dark places like caves, caverns, and the underground passages of the volcanic biome, distinguishing Mithril from other ores is a bit troublesome. Lightning doesn't improve the chances either.

So, the best thing players can do to spot Mithril is to search for it during daylight hours, on the surface, and in the Volcanic Biome. Crazy as this might sound, certain High-Tier ores like Cobalt, Adamantite, and Mithril do spawn more on the surface than in the underground. Or, at least, they are easier to spot.

With the most recent 2.0 Update of Hytale, players might have noticed that there are two different types of maps. That is V1 and V2 maps, which correspond to the different versions of the game. Players who created maps during the V1 strain will have their worlds generated as V1 seeds, which have Mithril spawns deactivated by default.

In conclusion, at this moment, it is impossible to get naturally spawned Mithril in the game. Unless players adjust the parameters of the game or use some of the available mods in Curse, the only current way to obtain it is through Creative Mode.

For those who want to test the new experimental version of V2 seeds, they need to make sure their worlds adjust to the 'World Gen V2.' Values established in the latest update. Devs have specified that "WorldGen V2 has been prepared for public documentation to help modders."

This has not only made V2 world Generation possible, but also corrected tons of errors and adjusted enemies, causing a ridiculous amount of damage, like the Lava Toads who were terrorizing players looking for ores in the underground.
