Luckily, Softwood Logs are quite easy to find in the starting area of Hytale, though these Logs are not labelled as such. This is because Softwood refers to multiple types of Logs, not just one. Here are the details.
How to Get Softwood Logs in Hytale
Softwood Logs can be obtained by cutting down Beech, Aspen, and Banyan trees in Hytale.
Beech and Aspen trees can be found in various Emerald Grove (Zone 1) biomes and can be identified by their distinct features. Banyan trees, on the other hand, can only be found in a specific area of the Devastated Lands (Zone 4).
Beech Logs, Aspen Logs, and Banyan Logs all qualify as Softwood Logs, and can be used interchangeably to upgrade the Farmer’s Workbench in Hytale.
Beech Logs
Beech trees can be found in various Emerald Grove (Zone 1) biomes in Hytale. These trees have brown bark that is darker on the edges than in the center and light green leaves. On the map, Beech trees appear as clusters of green leaves. On the map, Beech trees appear as small blobs of green.
Beech trees are often confused with Oak trees, as both have brown tree trunks and light green leaves. The only identifiable difference between Beech and Oak is that Oak tree trunks are a darker shade of brown than Beech tree trunks (shown in the screenshot above).
Aspen Logs
Like Beech trees, Aspen trees are also found in the various Emerald Grove (Zone 1) biomes in Hytale. They can be identified by their yellow leaves and white tree trunks tinged with gray markings.
Aspen trees are typically thin and narrow, with only a single block-thick tree trunk without any branches. On the map, Aspen trees appear as little dots of yellow.

Banyan Logs
Banyan trees can only be found in the jungle layer of the Devastated Lands (Zone 4), deep underground. The surface of the Devastated Lands is filled with lava, smoke, and burnt husks of trees. No greenery in sight.
However, that is only on the surface. The jungle layer is an underground biome in the Devastated Lands, teeming with life, including Banyan trees.
You can find also Adamantite in the Desolated Lands.
Banyan trees are massive, multi-branched trees with light brown bark and green leaves. Due to the absence of sunlight in the underground, these trees are always shrouded in darkness. Their main identifying feature is loose vines hanging from their branches, sometimes touching the surface.
