There are seven types of colored Crystal Shards in Hytale. Here are their locations.

Cyan Crystal Shards

Cyan Crystal deposits can be found submerged in the waters of the Azure Forests in the Emerald Grove (Zone 1), near the Azure Kelp. These are the forests with the blue spiral trees that yield Azure Log when cut down. You can also find Cyan Crystal nodes in the underground caves in Zone 1, growing near Blue Nettle.

Green Crystal Shards

Green Crystal deposits can be found on the surface of the Devastated Lands (Zone 4) in the Cinder Wastes biome. On the map, look for sickly green colored land with small ponds to find this location. Certain enemies, like the Earth Golem and the Skeleton Archmage, also drop them when killed.

Purple Crystal Shards

Purple Crystal deposits can be found deep within Scarak Hive nests in the Howling Sands (Zone 2) region in Hytale. Scarak Nests can be found all over the desert, but the easiest way to look for them is by looking for nests that have emerged above-ground.

In the Desolate Basin biome, where you find mud blocks and animal bones, look for tall, misshapen dirt pillars protected by flying bee-like insects called Scarak Seekers. These serve as entrances to the Scarak nests. At the very heart of the hive is where you will find the Scarak Broodmother room. The density of purple crystal shards is highest in this location.

Bring along plenty of healing potions if you're thinking about venturing into a Scarak nest.

You can also find Purple Crystal deposits in the Underground Jungle biome in the Devastated Lands (Zone 4), growing on the roof and pillars.

Red Crystal Shards

Red Crystal Shards can be found in large quantities in the Devastated Lands (Zone 4), both on the surface and in the Underground Jungle biome. On the surface, large clusters of these crystals spawn near lava pools, but you’ll find plenty of them scattered all over the Charred Woodlands biome as a whole as well, just less concentrated. They grow near Red Featherleaf, a grass that glows red in the dark, making them easy to spot. In the Underground Jungle, you’ll find them in large quantities attached to the roof.

Blue Crystal Shards

Blue Crystal deposits can be found in large quantities in the waters underneath the broken glaciers in the Everfrost biome of Whisperfrost Frontiers (Zone 3). Some deposits can also be found in regular caves in Zone 3, attached to walls, under ice blocks, or even submerged in water, but they are far fewer compared to the ones you find under the glaciers.

Blue Crystal deposits are also found in the Underground Jungles in the Devastated Lands (Zone 4). Most of them are attached to the rooftop, making them somewhat hard to get to.

Yellow Crystal Shards

Yellow Shards can be found in Howling Sands (Zone 2) caves, growing near Yellow Orchids. There are typically multiple clusters of 2-3 Yellow Crystal nodes close together. Alternatively, you can also find a ton of Yellow Crystal nodes in the Underground Jungle of the Devastated Lands (Zone 4), lining the roof.

White Crystal Shards

White Crystal Shards can only be found growing near Diamonds in Hytale. Diamonds can be found in any zone, at any depth, but they are exceedingly rare. As a result, these crystals are as well.

Pink Crystals also exist in the game (Devastated Lands - Underground Jungle), but they do not currently drop any Pink Crystal Shards when mined.
