Set to release later this year, the upcoming Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact has received more time than expected for developer Eighting to refine its tag team fighting gameplay. With character diversity being vital to the 3v3 subgenre, this title's sixteen-fighter roster seems to be oriented around covering a wide range of the anime's source material. Despite being limited to fewer roster slots than most titles on launch, Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact is at least confirmed to feature characters from every major arc of the series.
Apart from allowing the possibility of further work on the game's visuals and combat, the delay of Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact may be indicative of a more ambitious scope with its approach to the anime's sprawling cast. There are some notable omissions in the current roster that has been showcased, as its size makes the lack of some fan favorites inevitable. Regardless of the streamlined offerings of the game as it stands, the fighters currently set to appear can still cover a wide range of moveset representation.
Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact DLC Wishlist
Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact's launch roster exceeded expectations, although there are still characters who should join the fray through DLC.
Hunter Exam Arc Characters
The Main Recurring Cast
- Gon Freecss
- Killua Zoldyck
- Kurapika Kurta
- Leorio Paradinight
- Hisoka Morow
As the most familiar faces in the franchise, the main quartet of Hunter x Hunter and their dubious antagonist Hisoka seem to represent a foundation of different fighting styles. Gon has the natural all-rounder properties of his multipurpose Jajanken, while Killua is more specialized in rushing the opponent down using his Godspeed ability. Hisoka's kit is formed from his typical cards and Bungee Gum approach, but these fighters overall seem to showcase their powers at their strongest points in the anime.
Yorknew City Arc Characters
The Phantom Troupe
- Chrollo Lucilfer
- Uvogin
- Machi Komacine
- Feitan Portor
The complex and villainous nature of this iconic group seems to be reflected in their relatively aggressive styles across the board. Chrollo is stated to be utilizing the more technical Indoor Fish from his earlier anime appearance, but Feitan's damage potentially increasing with lower HP and Machi being focused on movement and screen control both lean heavily into offense.
Greed Island Arc Characters
Diverse Nen Specialists
- Biscuit "Bisky" Krueger
- Genthru
- Razor
These fighters are some of the most powerful Nen users found within the Greed Island game designed by Ging Freecss, but they're still rather unexpected inclusions in this title. Bisky in Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact is able to utilize two forms by transforming, giving her access to a smaller stature for more speed or a muscular build for more physical potential. With his bomb powers and minions supporting him, Genthru has been adapted with his Countdown as a sort of trap. The dodgeball-playing Razor has been built around his prowess at the sport and command of his 14 Devils ability.
Chimera Ant War Arc Characters
- Meruem
- Isaac Netero
- Morel Mackernasey
- Kite
While the scope of this lengthy story arc isn't necessarily captured by this handful of representatives, they still bear a solid variety of options. Meruem is supposedly as versatile as his absorption of other lifeforms allowed him to be at his peak, while Netero's access to One Hundred Type Guanyin Bodhisattva means he's appearing in the likeness seen during his battle with the Chimera Ant king. Morel's longer reach in Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact through his large pipe weapon and Deep Purple summoning ability places him in more of a supportive role that matches his administrative skills in the war, but Kite's current lack of information indicates that there's more to come for this title ahead of its release.
There's Still Time for More Additions to the Roster
Fighters From Every Arc Have Been Left Out
- Illumi Zoldyck
- Nobunaga Hazama
- Shizuku Murasaki
- Shalnark
- Pakunoda
- Neferpitou
- Shaiapouf
- Menthuthuyoupi
- Ikalgo
- Palm Siberia
- Knuckle Bine
It's clear that Eighting has had to compromise on the offerings of this title, as the anime is known for frequent introductions of new faces in every arc. Shoring up the members of the Phantom Troupe and characters involved in the Chimera conflict could nearly double the number of fighters alone, leaving significant room for further representation in Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact's launch roster.
