Gon's Compassionate Friend

Knuckle enters Hunter x Hunter as Morel's student alongside Shoot. Knuckle and Gon initially face off to join the upcoming expedition into the Chimera Ant-infested NGL. Despite all his preparation, Knuckle defeats Gon, although Knuckle admires his opponent throughout their fight. Despite showing an aggressive side, Knuckle at heart is very emotional, making him an interesting and underrated character.
Due to the threat level of the Chimera Ants, Gon and Killua are brought into the fold despite losing the fight with Knuckle, with Gon playing a central role in the palace invasion alongside Knuckle and others. Gon's friendship with Chimera Ant Meleoron leads to Gon connecting him with Knuckle. This spawns a new friendship that becomes an influential force against the Chimera Ants during the palace invasion.

Biscuit Kreuger, or Bisky, is introduced during the Greed Island arc. Bisky is Wing's Nen teacher, and Wing was Gon's first teacher, which shows her hunter experience and level. Despite appearing to be a young girl, Bisky's proper form is that of a muscular middle-aged woman who is immensely strong.
While Gon and Killua play Greed Island, a dangerous video game, Bisky accompanies them. In Greed Island, Gon is very receptive to Bisky's strict training, with both characters seemingly enjoying each other's company. Even when Gon is on the verge of death after the Chimera Ant arc, Bisky visits his bedside, showing she cares for her friend Gon.

Although mad and obsessive, Palm is a character that adds a lot to Hunter x Hunter. Palm initially teams up with Gon and Killua to beat Knuckle and Shoot, with the winner joining the Chimera Ant expedition. With Gon and Killua not up to the required standard to win that fight, Palm becomes extremely threatening towards the pair, often threatening to kill them if they do not win their duels.
Palm and Gon's relationship develops due to Gon's kindness, making Palm fall in love with him, and resulting in the two going on a date set up by Gon. Even when Palm is transformed into a Chimera Ant, she still cares for Gon and his health, especially after his near-death experience.

Gon's Chimera Ant Friend

Gon is introduced to the Chimera Ant Meleoron during the Chimera Ant arc. After the hierarchy of the Chimera Ants falls into chaos, Meleoron begins to stalk Gon, observing him from afar. Meleoron does this to learn about Gon and see if he would be receptive to being friends with him, as he seeks revenge for Peggy, his father from his human life, who was killed by the newly born king Meruem.
Once Meleoron introduces himself to Gon, the pair hit it off as both begin to trust each other due to their similar goals. Gon and Meleoron are later involved in the palace invasion, playing an integral role in the proceedings.

Gon's Friend From The Beginning

Kurapika joins Gon in the first episode alongside Leorio as they embark on a journey to the Hunter exam. After initial frustration with each other, Kurapika and Leorio become friends thanks to Gon's positivity and bravery. Kurapika is an intelligent character and an excellent Nen user, with his Nen abilities made explicitly for taking out the Phantom Troupe. From very early on, Kurapika and Gon hit it off, with Kurapika immediately seeing Gon's potential as a hunter.
Throughout the Hunter exam, Gon and Kurapika work together to progress and eventually pass the exam. Later in the Yorknew City arc, Kurapika leads the story as he hunts down the Troupe. To support Kurapika, Gon actively helps in the mission, showing their strong bond.

Despite Leorio's stubborn personality, Leorio and Gon build a friendly relationship as Leorio admires Gon and his kind-hearted approach towards others.
When Gon is on life support after his battle with Neferpitou, Leorio is right by his side as he desperately pleads for Gon to make a recovery. In a fit of rage at his friend's poor state, Leorio punches Gon's father, Ging, due to Ging not visiting his son. This incident led to Leorio nearly winning the 13th Hunter Chairman Election, all due to his caring attitude towards his dear friend Gon.

Killua Zoldyck is Gon's best friend in Hunter x Hunter. Since their initial meeting at the first stage of the Hunter exam, the pair have been inseparable throughout the story. After Killua is disqualified from the Hunter exam, Gon travels to the Zoldyck family estate to rescue his new friend.
