Follow the path to the right until you come across another grass patch, then go up, left, and then down again through the rocky zone. From here, go up again and climb the stairs to the next elevated rock path. Take the stairs up, go right, and then go down to return to ground level. From here, loop around the rock path by going up and then left to enter Area 2 of the Safari Zone.

Exit the Safari Zone and return to Fuchsia City. In the southeastern part of the city, you’ll find a house with a mailbox out front, just to the right of the Pokemon Center. This is the Safari Zone Warden’s house. Enter and talk to the Warden inside and he will give you HM04 Strength as a reward for bringing him his Gold Teeth back.

How to Use HM04 Strength to Push Boulders in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen

HM04 Strength can only be used outside of battle after you have defeated Erika in the Celadon City Gym to earn the Rainbow Badge.

Strength allows players to move around large circular boulders in caves and other areas in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. After you’ve taught Strength to a Pokemon, place that Pokemon in your party. Walk up to a moveable boulder and press A.

If all prerequisites are met, an animation will play out, and you’ll be able to push that boulder around in any direction by walking into it from that direction. After you use Strength once, you’ll be able to repeatedly push all rocks in that area without using the move again. If you leave the area, you’ll need to reapply Strength to use it again.

Best HM Slaves for Strength in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen

Although Strength is a relatively powerful move on paper, with 80 base power and 100 accuracy, it is rarely suitable for a main battler in your party to learn it. This is mainly because Strength is a Normal-type move which, due to its nature, does not provide value in the form of coverage. Therefore, Strength is mostly relegated to being used by HM slaves who can learn it. Here are some of the best options for this role in FRLG:

  • Pikachu
  • Nidoran
  • Psyduck
  • Poliwhirl
  • Krabby
  • Rhydon
  • Kangaskhan
