Hunt units in Honkai: Star Rail exclusively target one enemy with their attacks. This might make them slower than AoE DPS during combat as they can't effortlessly clear an entire wave with one or two attacks. Yet, Hunt characters possess a notably stronger single-target hit, making them better than most AoE units against bosses and single-target. They desperately need a team around them to increase their SPD so they can target more than one enemy in each cycle.

He heavily relies on his Break Effect stat and his attacks don’t deal DMG if he doesn’t break his target’s Toughness. For that, Boothill's team in Honkai: Star Rail must provide him with the cure to his two problems, SPD to bypass his Hunt niche, and Break Effect/Break DMG to amplify his second niche. 4 Boothill + Ruan Mei + Bronya + Gallagher
Without a doubt, this is the best Boothill team in Honkai: Star Rail. The idea behind a team with two Harmony units is to have each give Boothill one of the two stats he craves the most, SPD and Break Effect. Ruan Mei works perfectly with Break Effect DPS units as she boosts Toughness-reduction efficiency and keeps enemies with their Toughness broken for a longer while, and that’s super important to Boothill since he can deal massive DMG to broken-Toughness enemies. She also slightly increases Boothill's SPD from her Talent.
On the other hand, Boothill doesn’t fully benefit from anything Bronya grants him because of his poor scaling with DMG and Crit. Instead, the extra two actions Bronya gives him on each cycle alone makes her one of the best Supports to include in every Boothill team in Honkai: Star Rail. As for Gallagher, he’s a must-have in every Boothill team since Gallagher regenerates Skill Points while healing the team and increasing Boothill's Breaking DMG. Just give Gallagher a lot of Energy Regen stat so he can keep using his Ult.
3 Boothill + Ruan Mei + Asta + Gallagher
For players that don’t have Bronya, Robin, or Sparkle to constantly give Boothill his action back, Asta is an amazing Support that grants Boothill a huge amount of SPD, especially if 4pc of Messenger Traversing Hackerspace are included in Asta’s build in Honkai: Star Rail. Asta is so good that the amount of SPD she gives to Boothill allows him to play three to four actions a cycle.

As long as you have or can get Ruan Mei and Gallagher, always include them in any Boothill team since they take his DMG to the next level while keeping a steady source of utility for the team. This team heavily relies on Boothill's SPD, so his SPD must be as high as it can get to make the most of Asta’s SPD boost. Asta can’t be as effective as Bronya, as Bronya effortlessly provides Boothill with two actions in each cycle. However, players can still give Asta the Dance! Dance! Dance! Light Cone so she can further manipulate the team's action.
Asta can also be swapped for Hanya as Hanya also provides tons of SPD for Boothill.
2 Boothill + Ruan Mei + Imaginary MC + Gallagher
For players that don’t have Asta or any other Support ready and want to settle on Boothill’s SPD alone, include Imaginary MC in his team. Just like Ruan Mei, Harmony MC is a unit that buffs Break DMG and provides them with the ability to inflict Super Break DMG against Toughness-depleted targets. Considering Boothill can already trigger his Breaking DMG on every Toughness-depleted enemy and now MC grants him the Super Break DMG, every shot is going to flash some insane numbers.
These numbers are not just flashy, they’re real and can clear content. Boothill can even two-shot or three-shot bosses with these buffs. However, Boothill will still play less because of the lack of speedy Harmony to grant him more actions. Because of that, this team still ranks under Ruan Mei and Bronya’s teams in Honkai: Star Rail. Despite the lack of SPD though, the Super Break makes it up with its crazy DPS count.
1 Boothill + Imaginary MC + Asta + Gallagher
For F2P players who suffer with their luck, or for some reason, don’t like 5-star units in Honkai: Star Rail, build a Boothill team with Imaginary MC and Asta to provide a less but still effective utility for the son-of-a-nice-lady. In this team, Harmony MC will provide the Break Effect Boothill needs while granting him the extra Break DMG, but Boothill will lose the Toughness-reduction Efficiency that Ruan Mei gives. Because of that, Boothill will collect his Pocket Trickshot stacks slower than usual and may have a rough start with some content.

Players can make a ton of effective teams in Honkai: Star Rail without using a single limited 5-star character. Here are a few examples.
As for Asta, she will provide Boothill with the SPD he needs to constantly get his action back within the same cycles, but she still can’t be as effective as Bronya. All in all, this is the best F2P team for Boothill in Honkai: Star Rail. With this team, he can still clear content and get the job done, albeit slower.
