HQ Trivia skyrocketed to popularity in late 2017 and, after a few months of bugs and glitches, the game seems to finally be pushing through its growing pains. In addition to having fewer problems than it did around the new year, HQ is also boasting bigger prize pools than ever.
The latest major HQ special event is recruiting Dwayne Johnson, expert Pikachu cosplayer, actor, and wrestler to guest host the episode. As if an appearance by The Rock wasn't enough to make tuning in worth everyone's while, there's also an enormous prize pool to consider.
The game usually airs twice a day and offers prize pools in the ballpark of $2,000. For most games, all of the winners split that prize and take a few dollars home each. This time around though, the competitors are testing their knowledge for the chance to get a piece of $300,000.
Johnson is currently promoting his new film, Rampage, so get ready for lots of monstrous puns when the game goes live on Wednesday. If the turn out is as high as expected, maybe guest hosting HQ will start being added to the usual movie promotion circuit of late night shows and SNL. Crazier things have happened.
Even though the amazing extra lives trick doesn't work anymore, HQ's popularity still seems to be on the rise and it will be interesting to see how long it can sustain its current growth. The game is constantly pushing players to invite friends to join in, but at some point the community has got to reach critical mass. Something tells us this $300,000 prize pool is sure to draw in a lot of new faces though.
Don't forget to get your extra lives ready and keep your phone charged tomorrow for the big game. Good luck!
HQ is currently available on Android and iOS devices.
