The Planetologist skill tree in Dune Awakening provides excellent utility and efficiency passives that can help players go the extra mile while exploring Arrakis. Unlocking early is one of the best things a player can do early in the game, but unless you thoroughly explore the starting zone, you may end up missing it completely.
Every class in Dune Awakening has something to offer, and while Planetologists don't offer much in terms of power or combat, they can make both early and late-game resource expeditions much more lucrative. Here's how to get this skill tree early.
How to Get the Planetologist Skill Tree in Dune Awakening
The first order of business is to find a Planetologist trainer. The first one you can meet is a man named Derek Chinara, who you can find in a camp on the cliff above Imperial Testing Station 02 in Hagga Basin South. If you've been following your Journey quests, you'll eventually be tasked to go to the testing station as part of the Sandbike Journey.
Speak with Derek and he'll agree to teach you Planetology, but you'll first need to find a Minimic Film inside the Imperial Testing Station.
Minimic Film Location
You can find the film in a hidden room at the bottom of the Imperial Testing Station, near the end. To get to the room, proceed through the station until you find a bookshelf with a book that's glowing yellow. Interact with that, and the shelf will slide to the side, revealing the secret room. The Minimic Film is inside a container on a round table.
Unlocking the Planetologist Tree
Return to Derek and give him the film, and he'll unlock the basic nodes of the Planetologist skill tree for you. However, before you can enjoy the skills and passives that the tree provides, you'll need to level up and spend skill points on them, as you would with other classes like the Bene Gesserit.
In a nutshell, the Planetologist's skills are all about efficiency:
- The Scientist tree improves the power efficiency and resource gathering rate of tools.
- The Explorer tree gives you an additional means of scaling terrain.
- The Mechanic tree provides a variety of bonuses related to vehicles.
Players aren't locked to any one class in Dune Awakening, and they're free to invest points in class trees that interest them at any time, provided that they've actually unlocked the class tree they want to multiclass into. To unlock them, you'll need to find class trainer NPC and do some favors for them.
