Dota 2 may be a complicated MOBA with many tutorials that allow players to grasp its features, but some things lack thorough explanations. For instance, Dota 2 does not explain MMR and how users can recalibrate it.

Players wanting to recalibrate their MMR may do so for different reasons, but it is a welcomed feature that can do wonders for those stuck in a certain rank. Keeping this in mind, this guide will cover everything there is to know about recalibrating MMR in Dota 2.

To recalibrate MMR in Dota 2, follow these simple instructions:

  1. Access the gear icon on the top left side of the screen on the main menu.
  2. Click on the Account tab.
  3. Click on Activate Recalibration.

Clicking Activate Recalibration does not present a confirmation menu, and the game will initiate the recalibration process immediately.

What does Recalibrating Dota 2 Do

Players must play ten ranked games to complete the recalibration process. The player will get a new medal and MMR upon completing the required ten games. However, it is worth noting that the previous MMR will be considered for the recalibration process.

Players must keep their expectations in check, as the recalibration process will not cause MMR to jump from 1000 to 2000, even if the player can easily win all ten recalibration games.

Tips and Strategies for Dota 2 Recalibration

While recalibrating MMR may help players get more MMR and increase their rank, it is not without problems. Players will need to play their absolute best to get a better rank, which is easier said than done. Fortunately, players can increase their chances for success by following these tips and strategies:

Play Support

Playing support may be frustrating, but it is one of the best ways to get MMR. Most players assume they will lose out on valuable MMR by playing support, which is untrue. Since many players play carry, playing support provides the unique opportunity to get valuable MMR without worrying about losing out on last hits with another carry in the same lane.

Ensure a Good Behavior Score

To avoid being put in a pool of bad players, play fair without abandoning matches. Additionally, players should avoid getting reported too. If a player lands in a pool of bad players, they will not be able to win games, which in turn will hurt their MMR.

Practice Heroes to Find Counters

Enough emphasis cannot be placed on the fact that players need to practice support heroes at least twice or thrice before trying them out in a ranked match. While practicing, players should focus on finding counters for heroes. Since support heroes are vulnerable, it makes sense to identify counters to carries that can do tremendous damage, like Phantom Assassin or Sniper.
