Playing Troll in Dota 2

Since Troll Warlord is a core, you must farm quickly to start pushing lanes and eliminating enemies. Once you have picked Troll Warlord, play as First Position, also known as a Carry.

When playing Troll Warlord, get the following starter items:

Tango
Magic Stick
Iron Branch x2
Circlet

Since you will be farming in the easy lane, you can farm quickly by eliminating enemy and neutral creeps. Don’t get into fights with enemy heroes, and keep farming until you are confident that you can win fights. While farming, get the following items as soon as possible:

Magic Wand
Wraith Band
Phase Boots

As for your abilities, you will need to level them up as follows until you get the level six ability, Battle Trance:

Whirling Axes (2 points)
Berserker’s Rage (2 points)
Fervor (1 point)

The Troll Warlord’s Berserker’s Rage ability can be used to switch between range and melee attacks, thus making it easier for players to farm against the most deadly of heroes.

Once you have the necessary abilities and items and can inflict a good combo with your support, feel free to take on the enemy heroes farming in your lane. If not, you will need to continue farming until you have the following additional items:

Shadow Blade
Maelstrom

Now, you can go on a witch hunt by finding enemy heroes and annihilating them with the following combination of abilities:

Ensure Berserker’s Rage is set to melee since it will ensnare your targets, preventing them from escaping.
Activate Shadow Blade.
Locate an enemy hero, attack them, and use the Whirling Axes (Melee) ability.
Use the Battle Trance ability if and when your hero is about to die.
Rinse and repeat.

In the late game, get items like Black King Bar, Silver Edge, Mjollnir, Desolator, etc., to dispatch enemies and push lanes.
