Exploring the areas in Hollow Knight: Silksong can take a lot of time, as there are many puzzles and hidden passages that either lead to an item or collectible, or to a completely new location with its own map and boss. There are also side areas that can only be accessed after the player has acquired a specific ability, and this is where players can place a pin on their map and return to it later.

Wisp Thicket is one such location near Greymoor, but it cannot be accessed until midway through the second act in Hollow Knight: Silksong. Here is how players can reach it and defeat the boss waiting for them there.

How to Get to Wisp Thicket in Silksong

How to Get to Wisp Thicket in Silksong 1

To reach the Wisp Thicket, players will first need to acquire the Double Jump ability, located on top of Mount Fay. The climb to the top can be very difficult, as most of the sections are timed in the sense that you will lose health due to exposure to the cold winds. However, there are benches, which make the climb much easier and will potentially save you a lot of time. Be sure to bring some Rosaries to buy the map from Shakra and also access the first bench.

After that, head on over to the Greymoor and head left towards the tower near the Bellway Station. Climb all the way up and exit through the passage on your right, which leads to the second tower, and you have to go up again, but this time, exit through the left passage. This will put you in an area with quite a few flying enemies and spikes below you.

Keep activating the fans as you make your way across, and once you reach the section where you can go up, there is a double jump area that leads up to the Wisp Thicket. There will be spikes here, but you can pogo off the ball and head right towards the bench.

Thankfully, you don't need to acquire any map for this area, and as you explore it, Hornet will keep mapping the whole place.

Father of the Flame Boss Guide in Silksong

Where is Father of the Flame?

The boss is not difficult to find. Once you are at the bench, head left and pogo the ball to go through the passage. You will come across an enemy shooting flame projectiles, so be careful as these home in on your location. Head further left, going past the fire brazier and climb section, and right after another enemy, you will find two balls to pogo off and head left. Here you will find the boss arena. An easy way for the runback is to jump and clawline past the first enemy, swim through the water to avoid the brazier, and jump and clawline past the second enemy.

How to Beat Father of the Flame?

The Father of the Flame is quite a unique boss fight because the boss’s main body does not take any damage from Hornet’s needle attacks. Instead, you have to aim for the flame braziers hanging on the boss. There are four braziers, all of which can take multiple hits to break. While you are hacking away at the braziers, the boss will summon flame orbs that track your movement and deal two mask damage. You need to have the Magma Bell equipped for the fight, as it reduces the fire damage to one, but this takes a few seconds to recharge every time you get hit.

A good strategy to deal with the braziers is to jump over them and start pogoing down. After 2-3 down slashes, you need to jump out of the way to avoid the projectile. As you destroy more braziers, the boss will start spawning two fire orbs that shoot one after the other, giving you less time in between attacks. Once the braziers are down, the second phase will begin, where you have to aim for the caged fire in the middle while avoiding the fire orbs.

Occasionally, the boss will let out a roar followed by multiple projectiles in all directions. It is best to stop attacking during this attack and focus on dodging only. Once the boss has been defeated, you can grab the Wispfire Lantern Tool from its body.

Father of the Flame Cheese Method

There is an easy way to deal with the boss instead of going for the pogo method if you are finding that difficult. This method involves equipping the Delver's Drill Tool, which is located at the bottom of Underworks near the entrance. With this tool in your possession, you can simply use it on top of the brazier, and it will destroy it relatively quickly. You can cancel the animation anytime to dodge out of the attacks. You can use the same strategy for the second phase, but the Drill goes right down the middle, so you will have to do damage little by little.

For other tools, you can go for Sting Shards and aim it for the head during the second phase, or use the Threefold Pin, which is guaranteed to hit mainly because of the wide area it hits. Magnetite Dice is great if you have acquired it from Lumble after beating him in a game of dice. Though the chances of its effect triggering are low, it can sometimes save you from losing health.

What Else Is There To Do in Wisp Thicket in Silksong?

What Else Is There To Do in Wisp Thicket in Silksong

After you are done with the boss fight, you can make your way right from the bench. Here you will come across fire braziers that shoot homing flame projectiles in your direction. You need to go all the way to the top, where you will find a Bone Scroll that you can sell to Relic Seeker Scrounge in Bellhart for Rosaries. If you go further right, there will be another platforming section, but this one rewards you with a Mask Shard, so it is recommended that you get this.

To the left of the bench, right before the boss, there is a climbing section which leads up to an area with a Craftmetal to the right, and the path above leads to the bottom part of the Underworks. Since you are very close to Greymoor, you can potentially go back down and head right to find a path that leads to Sinner's Road, which connects to a lot more locations to the right of it.
