The Diablo series is well known for the exciting loot that the demons of Sanctuary drop, and Diablo 4 is no exception. With its five different classes, players are able to hack and slash their way across the battlefield as they collect mountains of loot.
Perhaps the most prized possessions for players of Diablo 4 are the Unique quality items. These extremely rare items, notable for the gold color of quality, can completely change how builds work in the game. This is because these items have special affixes that do not appear on any of the other items in the game--making some of them a must-have for certain builds.
What's the Oculus in Diablo 4?
One of the most notorious of these unique items in the Diablo franchise, The Oculus, has been a fan favorite since its introduction in Diablo 2. This weapon is a unique wand that was originally for the Sorceress in Diablo 2 and fittingly for the Sorcerer class in Diablo 4. The Oculus is focused on randomly teleporting the user during combat, which can have a mixed rate of success. But just where can players find The Oculus to experience this for themselves?
Like many things in the Diablo universe, getting loot all comes down to luck and time invested. This is because the loot dropped in game is random and can drop from any monster or chest. Since uniques are so rare, finding one in general--not to mention even the right one--can be a challenge. However, there are a few ways players can increase their chances of finding The Oculus.
How to Get the Oculus in Diablo 4
First, in order to find any uniques in Diablo 4, players need to ensure they have first reached at least World Tier 3. This is because unique items can only be found in World Tier 3 and World Tier 4. Once the player has reached these tiers, they can begin farming certain endgame activities to increase their chance of finding The Oculus. These activities include:
- Completing Helltide Events
- Completing Nightmare Dungeons
- Defeating World Bosses
- Turning in and completing Whispers
- Playing in higher World Tiers
Perhaps the most potent way to acquire The Oculus, however, is by defeating Beast in the Ice. This is a special boss that players must face on World Tier 4, within the Glacial Fissure Nightmare dungeon. The reason for this is that this endgame boss notably has The Oculus listed in its loot table. This means that defeating this boss offers players a way to target farm The Oculus.
However, reaching the Beast in the Ice does take a bit of preparation. To get started, players will need to push through Nightmare Dungeons at a level of 30 or higher and have the chance to be rewarded at the end with an item called Distilled Fear. Players will need 9 Distilled Fear, as well as 250 Sigil Powder, which can be obtained by defeating enemies in Nightmare Dungeons or completing activities such as Whispers and World Bosses.
With these items, players can visit the Occultist, where they can craft the Sigil needed to enter the Glacial Fissure Nightmare dungeon. Then, players simply need to use that sigil to open the dungeon and enter to slay the Beast in the Ice. If luck is on their side, players can have a chance to get The Oculus upon defeating the Beast in the Ice.
While the grind may be a difficult one to obtain this valuable item, players who see it through will obtain a powerful item. The Oculus is very powerful, offering players the following stats:
- +5 - +10 ranks of Teleport
- +2 Max Evade Charges
- Attacks reduce Evade's cooldown by 0.6 - 0.8 seconds
- +12.5% - +22.5% Increased Damage
- Gain the effect of the Teleport Enchantment for free. When you Evade using the Teleport Enchantment, you are taken to a random location.
In classic Oculus fashion, The Oculus not only harkens back to its Diablo 2 roots but also enhances a player's build significantly with its powerful stats and the tactical advantage of random teleportation, making it a prized goal for Diablo 4 players willing to face the challenges of Sanctuary.
