There are many different items in Minecraft that you can find or craft. While some are key to your survival, others are more essential for your entertainment. In this guide, we will tell you how to get one of the rarest music discs in Minecraft; namely, the Lava Chicken music disc.
Most music discs are dropped by the game's various mobs. While the Lava Chicken is no exception to that rule, finding it is extremely difficult if you do not know where to look.

How to Get the Lava Chicken Music Disc in Minecraft
Music discs in Minecraft are not essential for survival. All they do is play music when inserted into the jukebox. However, it is worth noting that each of these discs contains different tracks. Moreover, the methods for obtaining them also vary from disc to disc. While most music discs are dropped randomly after defeating regular mobs, some have stricter conditions. In the case of the Lava Chicken music disc, you need to find and beat the Chicken Jockey in Minecraft.
These are rare variations of baby mobs riding a chicken. However, the Lava Chicken music disc only drops from the regular zombie Chicken Jockey. You will want to attack the baby zombie. If you kill the chicken, you will not get the desired drop. Also, a zombie that has lost its chicken will not drop the Lava Chicken music disc either, so it's important to ensure these very specific conditions are met if you want to get the disc to drop.

Where to Find Chicken Jockey in Minecraft
Unlike baby zombies, Chicken Jockeys spawn much less frequently in Minecraft, so you'll have to spend a lot of time finding them. Moreover, the spawn rate of these mobs varies depending on your version of the game.
Bedrock Edition
In this version of Minecraft, Chicken Jockeys do not spawn naturally. Instead, baby variations of the mob have a 15% chance of mounting nearby mobs, including adult chickens.
Java Edition
Unlike Bedrock, in Java, Chicken Jockeys spawn in the wild. Each zombie has a 5% chance of spawning as a baby. Then, the baby zombie has a 5% chance of checking the nearest area for chickens to mount. If there are no chickens, then with a separate 5% chance, the baby zombie will spawn on a mounted chicken.
At first glance, it may seem that the chances are quite high, but if you count all the spawn rates instead, it turns out that it is extremely difficult to meet a Chicken Jockey and get a Lava Chicken music disc in Minecraft:
- Locations where chickens can roam - 0.4875%
- Locations free of chickens - 0.2375%
