Espurr Location in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Some Pokemon that evolve will have a distinct look whether they're male or female, and sometimes this is accompanied by a different base stat spread and learnset. In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Psychic-type Indeedee and Water/Ghost-type Basculegion are two examples of this. With the Indigo Disk DLC, trainers can now catch Espurr in Terarium. When Espurr evolves, a male Meowstic will have a different look and learnset from a female Meowstic. If you plan on using Meowstic in battle, knowing which one to put in the party will give you the advantage you need when battling the trainers at Blueberry Academy.

Where to Find Espurr

Coastal Biome

Espurr is found in the Coastal Biome of Blueberry Academy's Terarium. The best place to catch Espurr is on the beach to the far right, near the wall between the Coastal and Savanna Biome. You may even find a wild Meowstic.

Since the levels of Terarium Pokemon are in the 60s, you'll find Espurrs at level 63-64. Espurr has an even gender ratio, so if you want a male Meowstic instead of a female Meowstic, it shouldn't take you long to find one. If you want a lower-leveled Espurr, you can try searching for them in 1-star Tera Raids, but only in Terarium.

Espurr evolves into Meowstic at level 25. Since the Espurrs in Terarium are level 63/64, you'll just need to level it up once to trigger the evolution. If your Espurr is female, then Meowstic will be white with yellow eyes; male Meowstics are blue with green eyes.

If you'd prefer to catch Meowstic, you can look for them in the Coastal Biome, or you can try your luck with 4-star Tera Raid battles. Meowstic are less common than Espurr, but they'll still appear in the wild. You could always try to get an Encounter Power: Psychic Meal Effect from sandwiches or meals to increase the chance of finding a wild Meowstic.

Both Meowstics are Psychic-type Pokemon, meaning they have the same type effectiveness and strengths. They also have the same base stat spread/total. What makes the Meowstics different are their learnsets/moves.

Male Meowstic learns more status/support moves while female Meowstic learns more offense/special moves. The moves they learn via TMs are also different. For example, the female Meowstic can learn the Grass-type move Magical Leaf, but the male Meowstic cannot. The male Meowstic can learn Mean Look, but the female Meowstic cannot.

What ultimately makes one Meowstic better than the other is your preference as a trainer and what you need for your team:

If you're doing double battles, then a male Meowstic may be preferred thanks to his status moves like Quick Guard and Imprison. He can provide a Support Role for your Attacker.
If you're doing single battles and need a special attacker, then you will want to go with female Meowstic.
- However, you'll want to consider Meowstic's base stats. While Meowstic is a speedy Pokemon (104), its Attack (48) is pitiful and its Special Attack (83), while not bad, is easily outclassed by other Psychic-types such as Gardevoir. This means a special move (ex, Psychic) used by Meowstic may not have the same power as another Psychic Pokemon.
