Commander Honglan is one of the most formidable bosses in Wuchang Fallen Feathers, which makes it all the more confusing when you find her helpless inside a prison cell. Towards the end of the Cloudspire region, players will descend into the mine shafts and meet Honglan in one of the prison cells. While this encounter is completely missable, players can get a great Jade Pendant if they decide to help her escape.

How to Free Honglan From the Prison Cell in Wuchang Fallen Feathers

Players will meet Honglan once again in Cloudspire after defeating Mistress of the Night – Huang Yan in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. Once the boss is defeated, you'll enter the mine shaft that you can follow to find Honglan trapped in a cell. Here, you can speak to Honglan and tell her about the Mistress' death to start her quest.

Honglan's Prison Cell Key Location

Once the conversation is over, the objective is to find and beat all the enemies around the prison area, which includes the two wardens with white hats. So, there are two enemies, one warden and the other a giant troll, that you can defeat first. Once they're taken care of, take the path to the left of Honglan's prison cell to come across more enemies.

After defeating the warden in this room, you'll get the Dungeon Key from them in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. It's best to make sure that all enemies in the area are defeated; otherwise, you won't be able to progress the quest and free Honglan from her prison cell. Once the coast is clear, return to Honglan's cell, and you'll get the option to hand over the key to her.

Reward for Helping Honglan Escape the Prison Cell

Once she has the key, she'll reluctantly thank Wuchang for her assistance and reward her with a Coiled Dragon Pendant. The Pendant grants increased weapon skill power, which is great for players who focus their build around weapon skills in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. If you rest up at a nearby shrine afterward and return to her cell, she'll be gone, which indicates that you've successfully completed her quest.

Now you can freely progress forward into the area and start the encounter with the final boss of Cloudspire to progress to the next region in Wuchang Fallen Feathers.
