Lethal Company has a variety of otherworldly entities that are out to get players while they’re collecting scrap. To survive in this post-apocalyptic world, players must be capable of taking down any enemies that stand in their way.

One such enemy in Lethal Company is the Hoarding Bug. Hoarding Bugs are large, social insects often found living alone inside different facilities. These bugs are territorial and have a looting tendency similar to the player’s. They run around the moons and loot items to bring back to their nests. If players aren’t careful, Hoarding Bugs aka Loot Bugs can even steal items from them. This guide can help players survive an attack from a Hoarding Bug in Lethal Company.

How to Survive Hoarding Bugs (Loot Bugs) in Lethal Company

Lethal Company: the character

Named after their hoarding nature, Hoarding Bugs usually appear in groups of three but can also be found in larger hives. Similar to Spore Lizards, Hoarding Bugs are classified as ‘low danger’ beasts and are relatively harmless when alone – unless provoked. There are three main strategies to survive against a Hoarding Bug.

  • Escape – As soon as players encounter a Loot Bug, they have to make a quick run to the exit. Leaving the building is the safest choice as the Hoarding Bug won’t notice the player’s presence and will return to its activities. However, if the Hoarding Bug spots the player, it will be harder to run away and escape as the bug is slightly faster, even if the player is sprinting.
  • Kill the Bug – If players get too close to Hoarding Bugs, these creatures will get aggressive and start attacking. In this scenario, killing the Hoarding Bug is the best way to survive. To kill loot bugs, players simply need to hit them with a shovel or a road sign about 3 to 4 times. Players can also use their Zap Gun to slow down the bug.
  • Make a Peace Offering – Alternatively, players can simply drop all items in the inventory in front of the creature. Most likely, the Hoarding Bug just wants to loot one item from the player. Dropping everything in front of them allows the bug to grab whatever item it wants and return to its hoard. This method isn’t always feasible because giving up Scrap isn't easy, especially when the Company’s deadline is just around the corner.

Once a Hoarding Bug dies, players can go to its nest and take all of its loot, which sometimes includes rare and valuable Scrap.
