Drayton is a friendly and powerful Dragon-type user in the BB League Elite 4 that you'll need to defeat in order to complete the main storyline of The Indigo Disc, the latest DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Drayton is such a friendly guy that once you begin the process of paying up BP for his trial, he will welcome you in and waive the fee to take on the Elite trial.

For Drayton's challenge, you must explore and find some strong Pokemon from the Terrarium of Blueberry Academy to add to your team. Then, you will take on Drayton and his team of Dragon types, making up a very strong, competitively built team.

Best Pokemon For Terrarium-Only Battles

Drayton Trial Start

This trial will start with Drayton giving the ground rules. Only wild Pokemon caught in the Terrarium can be used for this trial. Drayton has a team consisting of six Pokemon with Typing as dual or pure. This means that the three most useful types to bring along for the challenge will be Fairy, Dragon, and Ice. Pokemon that make great candidates to bring down this challenge include:

  • Granbull (Fairy)
  • Crabominable (Fighting/Ice)
  • Kingdra (Dragon/Water)
  • Beartic (Ice)
  • Lapras (Water/Ice)
  • Dewgong (Water/Ice)

Drayton Trial Winter Students

The trial begins, and three students will appear in front, allowing you to interact with them in any order. The battles will be in the double battle format. If any Pokemon in the party do not meet the criteria for the trial, the students or Drayton will inform you of this and won't initiate a battle.

The student on the left will battle with Bastion and Rampardos. The student in the middle will battle with Alolan Sandslash and Dewgong. The student on the right will battle with Zebstrika and Magnezone. All three students will have Pokemon leveled to 68.

Drayton Trial Battle

Drayton has a full team of Pokemon with many different resistances and weaknesses, while the most common weaknesses are Ice, Dragon, and Fairy. Types like Water, Ground, and Electric have to deal with a few Pokemon on his team and some immunities. Drayton also has well-put-together moves that cover his team's weaknesses, so bringing a well-rounded team will make this challenging battle easier. It is worth noting that Archaludon has the most resistances of Drayton's team, but Drayton will terastallize it into a pure Dragon-type.

More Drayton Tips

Drayton Trial Reward

He leads off with Flygon and Dragonite, who complement each other. Flygon can cover Rock and Electric Types well and Dragonite with Ice Spinner and Thunder Punch covers Flygon nicely as well. If possible, aim to take out Dragonite before setting up Tailwind.

As the battle progresses, his Pokemon will prove to be powerful, but sticking to the proper type matchups and avoiding letting his Pokemon deal massive amounts of damage with Sceptile's Dragon Cheer will ensure your victory.

Upon defeat, Drayton will reward you with 12,800 Pokemon money (or 20,400 with the use of an Amulet Coin) and TM 226: Dragon Cheer.
