The world of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is bleak and unforgiving, and if you're getting weary of traveling through what's left of Avalon, you can always put a bonfire down and rest for a bit. Camping out in the wilderness is a great way to restock supplies and earn a breather during the night, and if you earned an extra level during your adventure, you'll need to rest before you can reap your newfound rewards.

Setting up camp is pretty simple, and it offers a lot more than just some breathing space. If you've forgotten how to place a bonfire, or if you're unsure how to do so, here's a quick guide that covers camping in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.

Should You Ask Caradoc A Question Or Request An Artifact in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon?

In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, Caradoc will offer to reveal to players the truth or an artifact. Here's what players should pick.

How to Place Bonfire in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

Caradoc should tell you how to set up camp before you leave the island asylum at the beginning of the game. To do so, open your Quick Use Wheel (Q on keyboard, L1 on controller). There's a smaller wheel on the left side of the screen that contains four different things — the Bonfire option is on the upper quadrant of that wheel.

Select the Bonfire option, then find a flat surface to place it on. This does not require any materials, and you can place as many Bonfires in the world as you want (not including dungeons). They'll disappear after some time, though, so you'll need to put down some more eventually.

How to Upgrade the Bonfire

By default, the Bonfire will let you cook food, level up, and rest to pass the time. It'll also let you speak with the ghost of King Arthur if you want to know more about the world or his memories. You can unlock more options by using Ethereal Cobwebs on the fire.

To upgrade the Bonfire, you'll need 10 Ethereal Cobwebs, which you can easily get by fighting Wyrdness monsters that roam the world at night. Doing so unlocks the following:

  • Identify: Use this on Unidentified items to receive useful items.
  • Alchemy: Brew all manners of potions.
  • Fast Travel: Instantly teleport to any unlocked Fast Travel point on the map. Very helpful when questing.

Fueling your Bonfire with Ethereal Cobwebs also prevents monsters from attacking you while you rest.

Keep in mind that this upgrade is temporary. The next Bonfire you place will be a normal one, and you'll need to burn some cobwebs again to use the benefits of the upgraded Bonfire. Don't worry, though, as getting Ethereal Cobwebs is fairly easy, so long as you can hunt the enemies roaming around during nighttime.
