Elden Ring punishes players for taking enemies head-on. Regardless of the armor the player has, there is only so much damage they can avoid. For this reason, players need to master the art of rolling to avoid incoming damage.

While many players may know how to roll out of the way of oncoming attacks, they do not know they can roll faster. To roll faster, players need to meet a couple of requirements. Keeping this in mind, this guide will cover how to roll faster in Elden Ring along with other helpful tidbits.

How to Roll Faster in Elden Ring

Manage Equipment Load

Elden Ring Rolling Is Key Dodge

Players can roll faster by ensuring their equipment load is under 30; they can reduce equipment load by equipping lighter shields, weapons, and armor. Players can also get rid of all armor to roll faster in the game.

Players who can’t do without armor must increase their Endurance skill rating. With a higher Endurance skill rating, players can equip heavier items and have a lower equipment load, thus allowing them to roll quickly.

There is a limit on the maximum load players can carry, including the weight of equipment like shields, weapons, etc.

Players will have a lighter load with lighter items, and vice versa.

The Endurance skill is related to the equip load. A higher Endurance skill rating allows players to increase their equip load.

Players with a higher equipment load will have a slower roll speed, meaning if they do not roll faster, they will be at risk of taking heavy damage. Also, rolling with heavy equipment requires more stamina, leaving players with little to no stamina to execute attacks.

Players can perform three types of rolls depending on the equipment load, i.e., light (equipment load is 30% or less), medium (equipment load lies between 30-70%), and heavy (equipment load exceeds 70%).

If the equipment load exceeds 100%, the player cannot roll.

The medium and heavy roll is the way to go depending on the player's playstyle and build. But if players want the fastest roll speed, they must sharpen their skills to compensate for the lack of defense against powerful enemies.

Rolling allows Elden Ring players to evade enemy attacks and take down enemies with relative ease when combined with parry and shielding. Of course, this requires a lot of practice, but with repetition, players can master this skill in no time.

Elden Ring is available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
