The Kingdom Hearts franchise is a bit notorious for having a complicated list of entries. It's difficult to even nail down a simple answer to how many games are in the series, thanks to multiple re-releases and now defunct mobile/browser games. However, several collections have been made to consolidate the series, including the Kingdom Hearts: All-In-One-Package that contains every game up to Kingdom Hearts 3.
The series can be a bit daunting for new players, who might wonder just how long it takes to beat Kingdom Hearts. Despite having a reputation for being convoluted, the Kingdom Hearts franchise is straightforward to play through, and some games can be experienced through cutscene movies rather than the full package.
Updated June 15, 2024 by Mark Sammut: Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- is now available on Steam, potentially introducing Square Enix's crossover franchise to a whole new audience. That package contains a lot of content, covering multiple full games along with a few cutscene compilations. It can keep someone busy for months on end, but how long is Kingdom Hearts overall?

Focusing on the vanilla console releases, there are 11 Kingdom Hearts games, along with the Re:Mind DLC. However, Square Enix has released updated versions for quite a few entries that add content, streamline the campaign, or adapt the experience for other platforms. More importantly, these iterations are usually the ones included in compilations.
10 Best Kingdom Hearts Bosses, Ranked
The Kingdom Hearts series is known for its great combat, so naturally, these games feature some fantastic boss battles loaded with spectacle.
Furthermore, some titles in the franchise are not included in game form in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 Remix, and these collections are more likely to be picked up by newcomers to the series than the original releases. 358/2 Days and Re:Coded were both Nintendo DS titles that were remastered as cutscene movies for the remixes. As both games are still worth playing separately, their DS playtimes will be included in the following table detailing the length of every Kingdom Hearts game.

Other Kingdom Hearts Content
In addition to the games, there is also the movie Kingdom Hearts X: Back Cover, which is only an hour long. It revolves around the Foretellers and the story is elaborated upon in Kingdom Hearts Union X. In regard to KHUX and Dark Road, both mobile games contained within the same app, the online service has already been discontinued. The app will still be downloadable to experience the story. Dark Road's cutscenes lead up to about an hour of story content. KHUX is harder to nail down numbers for, but cutscenes lead to about eight hours of actual main story content.
Kingdom Hearts Mobile debuted in 2008, but it was defunct in 2013.
Kingdom Hearts: 8 Bosses That Should Have Been Harder
The Kingdom Hearts series is renowned for its challenging secret boss battles, but some of the series other boss fights are pretty underwhelming.
How Long Is A Full Kingdom Hearts Playthrough
Taking the base versions of each console entry and DLC, the main story of Kingdom Hearts leads to 219 hours of playtime, while completionists have about 571 hours of playtime ahead of them.
However, newcomers to the series are more likely to play the following releases:
- Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-
- Kingdom Hearts 3
- Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind
- Melody of Memory
Not only are these the most readily accessible versions of the games, but they are also part of PS Plus Extra, making it very easy for players to just work their way through the franchise. If someone were to stick to these releases, they would be looking at roughly 155 hours to complete Kingdom Hearts' main story, along with 436 hours for a completionist run.
Kingdom Hearts: Hardest Games To 100% Complete
Some Kingdom Hearts games are really difficult, and that's especially the case when trying to 100% them.
