DOOM: The Dark Ages is the eighth mainline installment in id Software's hugely influential FPS franchise and the third since the series was rebooted in 2016. Like the two games that came before it, it's a little on the short side, with players able to complete its main story campaign in around twelve hours.
The Best Doom Games, Ranked
The Doom franchise is one of the most well-known and beloved first-person shooters, and these are the best ones in the series by far.
Some may be curious to learn how much side content the game packs in and whether or not there's any post-game content. The following guide will explain how long it takes to fully complete DOOM: The Dark Ages, while also providing information about the game's completion rewards and future DLC plans.
How Long Does it Take to Beat DOOM: The Dark Ages?
The main story of DOOM: The Dark Ages can be completed in around 12 hours, although anyone who's planning to track down all of the collectibles and complete every challenge should set aside an extra hour or two. Those hoping to unlock all of the game's Achievements / Trophies may need a few additional hours to focus on weapon mastery, although it is possible to master every weapon during your initial playthrough if you're paying attention to weapon challenges.

Is There Any Post-Game Content in DOOM: The Dark Ages?
Unfortunately, there is no post-game content in DOOM: The Dark Ages, nor does the game feature any kind of New Game Plus mode. Players can attempt a Pandemonium or Ultra-Nightmare run after finishing their first playthrough if they want to, although these two uber-difficult settings are available right from the get-go, so they can't really be considered post-game content even if they do add some extra replayability.
DOOM: The Dark Ages Completion Rewards
Completing the game on the Aspiring Slayer, Hurt Me Plenty, Ultra-Violence, or Nightmare difficulty setting will unlock the Slayer's Nightmare skin. Completing a Pandemonium or Ultra-Nightmare campaign will unlock the Pandemonium and Ultra-Nightmare skins, which are silver and gold, respectively. Players can also unlock gold skins for their weapons by completing mastery challenges, although this is possible during their initial playthrough.
Will There Be Story DLC for DOOM: The Dark Ages?
Like DOOM Eternal before it, DOOM: The Dark Ages will be getting campaign DLC. What exactly this will entail hasn't been revealed as of the time of writing, nor has its expected release date been announced. What we do know, however, is that the Campaign DLC is included with the Premium Edition of DOOM: The Dark Ages, which retails for $30 more than the standard edition of the game. Given its price tag, it will hopefully be fairly substantial, although only time will tell.
