Monster Hunter Wilds is undoubtedly the biggest Monster Hunter game yet, and with all of that open space for hunters to frolic and hunt through, many players will wonder just how long the game takes to complete. You might be interested in knowing if you're close to the end or just curious about the average playtime to roll credits. Either way, this guide will help.
What Was Your First Monster Hunter Game?
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on the PSP was the one that started it all for me. I used to play multiplayer with my best friend back in high school, and he was the one that showed me the ropes. I had no idea what I was doing, but it was one of the best multiplayer experiences I ever had. However, I didn't get super deep into the series until Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii.
How Long to Beat Monster Hunter Wilds
Rolling Credits
The Best War Games's reviewer for Monster Hunter Wilds, Dalton Cooper, and I managed to wrap up the main story and roll credits in 14 and 11 hours, respectively.
The story is split into six chapters --the first half is the main story, and the second half takes place post-credits. This part of the story will also take 10-15 hours. This means that players can expect to take around 20-30 hours to wrap up all story missions.
If you plan on acquiring the coveted Platinum trophy for Monster Hunter Wilds (or just getting the Achievements), the most time-consuming trophies to worry about are listed below. I would say that a Platinum trophy can be earned in under 100 hours, but it really depends on how quickly you can find the Crowns for the monsters.
- Established Hunter (Reached HR 100)
- Giant Crown Master (Obtained a Gold Crown for many monsters)
- Miniature Crown Master (Obtained a Miniature Crown for many monsters)
- Hunters United Forever (Complete 100 Multiplayer Quests)
Crown monsters are the largest and smallest of each type of Large Monster in Monster Hunter Wilds.
When Is High Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds?
We're in the Endgame Now
Once you roll credits after completing Chapter 3 of Monster Hunter Wilds, you will gain access to High-Rank Environments and monsters, allowing you to craft even more powerful armor sets and weapons.
Did You Like the Wirebugs in Monster Hunter Rise?
I personally really enjoyed the extra mobility for heavy weapons, like the Great Sword, so the Wirebugs making a return to the series one day wouldn't upset me. I would gladly take the option back or just get another way to move around the environment.
Do I Need to Worry About Quest Timers in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Tick-Tock
Quest Timers have been around since the beginning of the series, but the more streamlined the franchise becomes, the less players need to worry about it. Gone are the days of using a paintball to track down monsters. We no longer have to hoof it on foot around the map to find monsters. We have Seikrets now!
Because of these quality-of-life updates, quests in Monster Hunter Wilds will only take up to 10–20 minutes --if you're by yourself and hunting two different monsters at once, a mission like that could take a little longer.
But during the main story of Monster Hunter Wilds, you don't need to worry much about running out of time. Unless you're literally avoiding the target monster, you'll never fail a hunt in that way.
Is There Master Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Not Yet...
Monster Hunter Wilds does not have a Master Rank. Like Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise, it's expected that Master Rank will come as part of Wild's eventual expansion. Iceborne and Sunbreak, priced at $40, not only added a higher tier of difficulty for monsters but also came with new monsters, a new locale, and more.
Capcom typically releases expansions for Monster Hunter a year and some months post-launch, so while the company hasn't confirmed anything, an expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds could come out around the spring/summer of 2026.
