Like most RPGs, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon features a leveling system that determines the player's power. Leveling here is more akin to a Soulslike game than one from the Elder Scrolls, but when it comes to gaining XP, it uses the conventions of both.

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon uses a mix of both traditional and practice-based leveling — players can get XP for completing quests, killing enemies, and using practical skills like cooking, blocking, and so on. This gives players a couple of ways to farm XP, and if you're curious as to how you can gain it as quickly as possible, here are a few methods you can try.

Broken Strings is a short side quest that players can stumble upon while exploring the world of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.

How to Power Level in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

If you want to level up for the sake of getting skill points and not to improve your individual skills, then the way to do so is simple: kill as many enemies in the world as you can. Still, we're here to power level, so running around Act 1 and picking with everything just isn't going to cut it.

One of the best enemies to farm early on is the Croakmaw, a giant toad in the swamp north of the Horns Keep. It's fairly high-level, so if you're just starting your campaign, its attacks are going to hurt. However, you can easily take it down with the Blood Transfusion spell — tap the spell to fire projectiles that apply Bleed to whatever it hits. Spam that at the Croakmaw, and it'll eventually die, yielding over 1,000 XP in the process plus XP for the Magic skill, assuming you killed it with Blood Transfusion.

To actually farm the Croakmaw, just place your camp near the big toad's spawn point. Rest for 24 hours, and the Croakmaw should respawn when your rest gets interrupted. This farm should get you from level 2 to 11 in about 15 minutes or less.

To maximize your XP gains during normal gameplay, make sure to sprint, slide, evade, and dash as you move. Doing so will improve your Agility, Evasion, Athletics, and Sneak skills, and when they level up, you gain XP.

Alternative XP Farms

Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon Sunken Village

If you'd rather not farm the Croakmaw, you can always farm regular enemies. One good place to go is the Sunken Village (the same place where you need to fix the Gong for a quest), which is just north of the Horns Keep. Head down to the beach and tag the fast travel point there. The village is swarming with Undead and Drowners that are fairly easy to kill.

Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon Wyrdspawn

For even more XP, farm the Sunken Village at night. Wyrdspawn will appear near the fast travel point there, giving you more things to kill for XP and loot. Killing the Croakmaw is going to be much faster, but if you already have a good build going, and you want to farm different resources, then clearing populated areas like the Sunken Village, Abandoned Village, and Abandoned Stronghold is a decent alternative.

Resting at camp respawns enemies in the world. If they don't respawn immediately at night, rest for 2-3 days.
