Path of Exile 2 has a lot of unique support gems that can greatly change how any skill in the game works. A lot of support gems are a give-and-take, and not just straight upgrades, though this adds a lot more flavor to every upgrade and gives players reasons to try different things out.
When the game was first released in early access, the Scattershot support gem was a unique choice that garnered a lot of attention once players figured out how useful it was. Those jumping into the game now will have a bit of trouble finding that exact support gem, here's where to find it and how to use it.

How to Get Scattershot (Multishot) Support Gem in Path of Exile 2
The Scattershot Support gems option, as it originally existed, is no longer in the game, and it has instead been renamed to Multishot. Multishot functions exactly the same, and can be found using the same method. Players will need a support gem in their inventory, and can engrave it into Multishot, which is a Projectile support, appearing as green in the menu. The effects of multishot are:
- Supported skills deal 35% less damage.
- Supported skills fire two additional projectiles.
- Supported skills have 20% less skill speed.
- Requirements: 5 Dexterity
If this support gem doesn't appear as one of the recommended support skills for a projectile skill, it can still be found by selecting the, "Show All" button to see the full list of skills. Multishot has a level one version, with higher level versions available as you find stronger support gems.
Path Of Exile 2: Best Level 2 Support Gems, Ranked
The following Tier 2 Support Gems in Path of Exile 2 can help out players immensely in improving their builds.
Is Multishot Good in Path of Exile 2?
If you just started a new character, Multishot can be a bit of a mixed bag. Against regular enemies in an instance, it is a great choice, as hitting more enemies with weaker attacks is better than powerful single-target attacks. Combining this support skill with
Pierce can make your character incredible at crowd control.
Getting stronger versions of Multishot makes it much more effective, as those stronger versions only lessens the lowered damage from the skill. A lowered skill speed isn't ideal, but most basic enemies in the game will charge straight forward, so as long as you have a good cast time, like pairing a skill with Rapid Casting, you shouldn't have to worry.
Stronger versions of this support gem will require higher dexterity to equip.
