The core progression system in Battlefield 6 hasn't changed much compared to the previous game in the series. Players will still need to level up to unlock weapons, and thankfully, most of the leveling strategies from previous series titles still apply in this one.
Nearly everything you do in a multiplayer game will net you XP points, but if you want to level up fast, you'll need to put in some extra effort. Here are a few tips and tricks you can try out in order to get as much XP as possible while playing Battlefield 6 multiplayer.
How to Complete All Recon Class Challenges in Battlefield 6
Some of the best Recon equipment in Battlefield 6 (like C4 charges) is locked behind class challenges in Battlefield 6.
Updated November 12, 2025 by Marc Santos: Progression in Battlefield 6 has received a number of significant changes in the patches that followed its release, and while the main methods of getting XP fast remains unchanged, bot faming in Portal was effectively gutted. Thankfully, a few new game modes were also added to the game in the wake of Season 1, and some of them are quite good for leveling up. We've updated this article to include those new game modes, as well as an extra section on how to level up the battle pass fast.
How to Get XP Fast in Battlefield 6
Scoring kills and assists will only get you so far when it comes to leveling up, and if you want to get big chunks of XP over the course of a match, you absolutely need to do the job of your chosen class in BF6. Eliminating players and securing objectives are some things that anyone can do, but to get even more XP, you'll want to do the following based on what class you're using:
- Assault players should attack objectives constantly and score as many kills as possible.
- Support players should always put down health/ammo packs and revive teammates.
- Engineers can earn a ton of points by repairing friendly vehicles and damaging or destroying enemy armor.
- Recon players will get plenty of XP just by spotting enemies.
By completing role-based feats and other combat-related achievements like Double Kills and Longshots, you will get Accolades, which appear near the points feed near your aiming reticle. These work somewhat similarly to Ribbons from previous games, except they are a lot broader in terms of the objectives you need to complete. You will get bonus XP based on the Accolades you score during the match.
Best Way to Get XP
Much like in previous Battlefield games, the easiest way to level up fast in Battlefield 6 is to play Support. Reviving a downed teammate rewards half as many XP as killing an enemy, and if you can position yourself behind a big cluster of teammates fighting in a meat grinder, you'll find yourself feasting on XP. Put an ammo pack down, drag and revive teammates who get shot, and cover the team's flanks when you're not bringing someone back to life.
It's also worth noting that you get Suppression Assists when firing at the general direction of enemies, assuming the enemies in question get fragged by your teammates while you're laying down suppressive fire.
Breakthrough is the best game mode for leveling up in Battlefield 6 because players tend to get funneled into chokepoints. Maps like Manhattan Bridge and Siege of Cairo are especially good for the Support leveling strat because of the head-on fights that the maps allow.
If you don't want to just run around while reviving teammates as a Support, try playing Recon with the Recon Drone. It's very easy to get over 100 assists over the course of a match by doing this.
Casual Breakthrough
This game mode features a mix of players and bots. There are only eight real players on each team, and the rest of the slots are filled with AI. Casual Breakthrough matches are typically less stressful than the usual BF6 match, but there's one catch: killing AI only gives half the regular XP.
Playing in the Casual Breakthrough playlist may not be the fastest way to level up in BF6, but it's a lot more relaxed. It's a great place to warm up, practice, or unlock weapons and complete challenges.
Gauntlet
While far detached from the traditional Battlefield 6 experience, Gauntlet mode is actually quite decent for getting XP. If you make it to the final round, you'll get around 30,000 Career EXP on average. Doing so takes roughly 20 minutes, which is roughly the same as a well-matched Escalation round.
Leveling with Portal in Battlefield 6
Unfortunately, Battlefield Studios has decided to severely limit bots on Portal. Players can no longer create solo lobbies filled with bots, and Portal servers can only host a limited amount of bots now compared to the launch version of the game. Some players have found ways to circumvent these limitations, but they are quickly getting patched out by the developers.
Still, as long as you play on verified Portal modes, you should still be able to farm XP in those lobbies normally.
How to Level Up The Battle Pass Fast in Battlefield 6
At its very core, the BF6 battle pass works the same ways as the one in BF2042. To unlock an item, you need to earn 10 battle pass points, and to get a point, you either need to:
- Earn enough XP by playing matches
- Complete challenges
Completing weekly challenges is by far the fastest way to rank up the battle pass in Battlefield 6. If you don't like any of the challenges on the list, you have up to five opportunities to re-roll them. If one of the challenges is too tedious, or if they're forcing you to play RedSec, just re-roll them and hope you get something easier to complete. Yes, you can complete challenges in Casual Breakthrough too.
