Pokemon that evolved by trading while holding an item were added back in Gen 2's Pokemon Gold & Pokemon Silver. Since then, "trade evolution items" have been a staple in the Pokemon world. Electabuzz received a pre-evolution in Gen 2 and a final evolution in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. If you wanted to evolve Electabuzz, you needed an item called an Electirizer. With the Elekid-family returning to Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's Indigo Disk DLC, obtaining Electivire via evolution will require the Electirizer and online features.

How to Get Elekid & Electabuzz
Chargestone Cavern
Elekid and Electabuzz can be spotted in the Canyon Biome of Terarium. They tend to wander the mountains near the wall separating the Canyon and Polar Biome. However, the best place to look for these Electric Pokemon is to search in Chargestone Cavern. There's an entrance to Chargestone Cavern southwest from Central Plaza. As its name would indicate, Chargestone Cavern has primarily Electric-type Pokemon, and it's arguably the most-common spawn points for Elekid and Electabuzz.
Both Elekid and Electabuzz can give you a hard time when you're trying to catch them. You can increae the catch rate odds by sneaking up on Elekid/Electabuzz and throwing a Poke Ball at its back (ZR-Button). This will trigger a "surprise" encounter where Elekid/Electabuzz will be "caught off guard" for the first turn. During this window of time, you will want to throw a Quick Ball or, if you're in Chargestone Cavern, a Dusk Ball.
Sneaking up on Pokemon/catching them by surprise is also a Blueberry Quest. If you wait until you have the appropriate quest in your quest menu (tap right on directional pad), you can also get Blueberry Points (BP).
Battling Tips for Catching Elekid & Electabuzz
- If Elekid breaks free of the Poke Ball, you'll want to avoid moves that are super-effective (i.e, Ground-type attacks) when battling it. Elekid's base Defense and base Special Defense are very poor, so it doesn't take much to accidentally 1HKO it.
- If you're catching Electabuzz, then you should pick special moves, as Electabuzz's Special Defense is higher than its Defense.
If you prefer to catch Pokemon from Raids, then Elekid will occasionally appear in 2-star Tera Raids while Electabuzz appears in 4-star Tera Raids. Note that they will only spawn in the Tera Raids found in Terarium. You won't find them in Kitakami or Paldea.
Where to Find Electirizer
"Poke Ball" Item in Canyon Biome, School Store, and Dex Reward
If you want to evolve Electabuzz, you'll want to find the Electirizer item. Fortunately, you can get one for free from a cave in the Canyon Biome. Since there are plenty of caves in the Canyon Biome, you'll want to do the following to get the Electirizer:
- Open your map with Y-button, and look east from the Canyon Plaza (where you battle Amarys), or southwest from Central Plaza.
- Refer to the orange objective flag on the above image for the cave's exact location.
If, by some chance, you've already picked up this Electirizer, then you have two other methods of obtaining one:
- Catch 130 Pokemon in the Blueberry Pokedex. You can then access Dex Rewards by pressing the (-) button, choosing the Blueberry Dex, and then tapping X-button.
- You can also buy an Electirizer at the School Store in Blueberry Academy for 250BP.

How to Evolve Elekid & Electabuzz into Electivire
How to Use Electirizer
Elekid evolves at level 30, and to evolve Electabuzz, you'll want to give it the Electirizer item and then trade it to trigger its evolution into Electivire. You can access wireless features as long as you have a Nintendo Online Membership. If you have this already, then open the pause menu with X-button, then tap L-button to open wireless communications. Go into Poke Portal to join/form a group in the Union Circle, and after you've Set Off, go back into Poke Portal and choose Link Trade.
You can also getElectivire without evolving Electabuzz from 5-star or 6-star Tera Raids. 5-star Tera Raids will unlock in the postgame/after "The Way Home," and 6-star Tera Raids need to be unlocked after clearing the Academy Ace Tournament.
