Many Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are evolved simply by leveling them up in battle and having them reach specific levels. There are a few exceptions, with certain Pokemon needing specific items or conditions beyond leveling up to get them, with Gimmighoul being a prime example.
To evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo, players will first need to collect 999 Gimmighoul Coins. These coins will require a lot of exploration, and will also take many in-game days to get, so it's best to start right away.

How To Farm Gimmighoul Coins Fast
Gimmighoul Coins are given by finding Roaming Gimmighoul or battling Chest Gimmighoul and either defeating or capturing them. Both versions can be found at the top of towers scattered throughout the region of Paldea, and just about every one has a ladder from the bottom leading to the top. After these towers are discovered, they will become fast travel points to return to.
To farm Gimmighoul coins fast, find and unlock all fourteen of these towers throughout Paldea, then travel to all of them every day. After a Gimmighoul is interacted with, they will disappear and won't reappear until the next in-game day. An in-game day lasts for 72 minutes, meaning it's best to start farming Gimmighoul coins right away to give you enough gameplay to complete while you wait for the next in-game day. Gimmighoul also have a chance of spawning near ruins throughout the region, though this is not an easy farming method as ruins are often far away from any nearby fast-travel location.
Gimmighoul Coin Drop Rates
Roaming Gimmighoul and Chest Gimmighoul have very different respawn rates and coin drop rates. Roaming Gimmighoul are much more common but will usually give the player between 2 to 7 Gimmighoul coins at a time, with very rare chances going above that range. Chest Gimmighoul will be your best bet to reach 999 Gimmighoul Coins, as they can give between 50 to 777 Gimmighoul coins.
Chest Gimmighoul have a very low spawn rate, and can be found randomly throughout the world. Chest Gimmighoul have a very low chance of respawning each day, but it's always worthwhile to check the Watchtowers and Lighthouses each in-game day.

How To Evolve Gimmighoul
Once you have 999 Gimmighoul coins, simply level up a Gimmighoul in your party. This can be done in battle or with a rare candy or with EXP candy. Leveling up your Gimmighoul once will cause it to evolve into a Gholdengo.
