What is Resounding Melody?

MH Wilds Resounding Melody Description
Monster Hunter Wilds Resounding Melody Description

Resounding Melody is a powerful multi-hit attack that players can use to deal massive damage with their Hunting Horn. It's similar to the Mighty Charge Slam attack from the Hammer in terms of both application and animation, and players can treat at as such.

Like other Hunting Horn melodies, the exact input for Resounding Melody changes depending on the horn players are using. For example, Resounding Melody becomes available on the Hardened Bone Horn once players queue up Purple, Red, Blue, Blue notes.

Not all Hunting Horns can perform Resounding Melody. Others instead have Offset Melody, which counts as an Offset Attack that can knock monsters down. Also, some instead use Melody of Life, which heals players when used.

Resounding Melody is a purely offensive move, so unlike Sonic Barrier and other support-oriented melodies, players will only really use this to deal damage.

How to Use Resounding Melody in MH Wilds

Once the right notes have been queued up, you can perform Resounding Melody by pressing the following buttons all at once:

  • Playstation: R2+Triangle+Circle
  • Xbox: RB+Y+B
  • Keyboard: LMB+RMB+R

Since direct Hunting Horn attacks deal Blunt damage like Hammers do, Resounding Melody is best used when targeting a monster's head. If a monster takes enough Blunt damage to the head, they'll eventually get knocked out, causing them to tumble to the ground and helplessly flail around for a few seconds, giving everyone on the team some time to deal free, uninterrupted damage.

Apart from dealing high damage and having good KO potential, Resounding Melody becomes even deadlier when paired with Echo Bubbles, which players can make by pressing R2+X/RT+A/R+Space.

Echo Bubbles are normally used to provide buffs to any hunter standing on them. If you perform Resounding Melody while standing on one of these fields, the Echo Bubble will emit a damaging pulse on the final hit of the performance.

Keep in mind that Echo Bubbles can stack on top of each other, which means that if you perform Resounding Melody on three fields, the final hit will generate three damaging pulses instead of one. Also, these pulses can hit large monsters multiple times.
