House of the Dragon has introduced fans to quite a lot of intriguing characters, specifically those of the Targaryen family. Of course, this entire series surrounds the Civil War within House Targaryen, the Greens, and the Blacks.
During this time, House Targaryen was at the peak of its powers, with many powerful dragon riders. Fans have already seen many riders and dragons fight together in the series and showcase the strength of their bond. However, out of them all, only a handful can stand out at the very top.
Baela-Moondancer
Baela is the daughter of Prince Daemon Targaryen and Laena Velaryon. She bonded with Moondancer at a very young age, and these two are connected to each other greatly. They form a fantastic duo and can obliterate the vast majority of the riders in battle.
Baela is incredibly powerful with Moondancer. In fact, fans have already seen what she's capable of, and later down the line, she is most definitely going to fight in more amazing battles which are definitely going to highlight her strength as an incredible dragonrider, as well as her bond with Moondancer.
Aegon II-Sunfyre
Aegon II Targaryen, who usurped Rhaenyra Targaryen might not be the strongest, but he does form quite a formidable duo with his Dragon, Sunfyre. Fans know Sunfyre to be the most magnificent Dragon ever seen in the history of Game of Thrones.
Although not the biggest or the strongest, Sunfyre is formidable still, and with Aegon, Sunfyre is almost unstoppable. Their connection is quite special indeed and that is what makes them a very exciting duo in battle.
Rhaenyra-Syrax
Rhaenyra Targaryen bonded with Syrax a long time ago, and it is safe to say that she is one of the most special dragonriders that fans have seen in the story.
In fact, Rhaenyra was the first dragonrider that fans saw in House of the Dragon, with Syrax being the very first dragon to appear in the series. Rhaenyra and Syrax form a special bond, and it is almost as if they're connected telepathically. The two feel pain together, they are one in the face of any threat.
Rhaenys-Meleys
Out of all the dragons that fans have seen in House of the Dragon, Meleys remains the fastest of them all. She is also quite old, which makes her a ferocious dragon in battle. Meleys was ridden by Rhaenys Targaryen, and fans know these two to be quite special.
Together, they can take down even the most ferocious of enemies, but, fans do need to keep in mind that neither of them is the strongest in the series individually, or as a duo.
Aemond-Vhagar
Aemond Targaryen and Vhagar form a formidable duo that is easily one of the strongest in Westeros. It is a fact that Vhagar is the strongest Dragon in Westeros at this point in time, due to it being a hardened survivor of many battles, and also the largest alive right now. Vhagar can swallow a dragon whole, and burn a city in a matter of minutes. It is truly a frightening Dragon and certainly the strongest power in the entirety of Westeros right now.
However, Aemond’s bond with Vhagar is not all that strong, and there have been better dragon-rider bonds that fans have seen in the series. Still, Aemond can get rid of just about anyone, and being defeated in battle is almost out of the question for them. The most anyone can do against them is either team up with someone else to defeat them, or tie a battle in some way. Otherwise, both Aemond and Vhagar are simply unbeatable.
Daemon-Caraxes
Daemon Targaryen and Caraxes are a formidable duo and certainly one of the most dangerous in Westeros. Caraxes is neither the biggest nor the strongest dragon in Westeros. However, it is certainly the fiercest. The Bloodwyrm is ridden by Daemon Targaryen, who mirrors its very own personality, and together, these two share a bond beyond all understanding.
While Caraxes might not be the strongest on his own, with Daemon, it is a force to be reckoned with, such that even Vhagar and Aemond couldn't go on to defeat them, despite having a strength advantage in battle. Quite clearly, Daemon and Caraxes form the most dangerous dragonrider-dragon duo fans have seen in the entirety of House of the Dragon so far. Of course, as the series continues, fans will get to see more of these powerful duos, which can then be added here.
