House Flipper 2 is a simulation game where players take on the role of a one-person renovation crew. Over the years, fans have stepped foot in various fictional neighborhoods that often look like a video game recreation of real places, from the suburban streets of the original House Flipper to the seaside town of Sunset Bay in its HGTV DLC, one of many flipper-themed expansions to the simulation franchise.

House Flipper 2 takes players to a new location called Pinnacove, where they can renovate, buy, and flip houses across its different map regions. In a recent interview with The Best War Games, Frozen District Producer Jakub Bujas spoke more about House Flippers 2's setting of Pinnacove, its Story Mode, and its various map regions. Bujas also talked about its protagonist, the town residents, plans for Pinnacove's map, and more.

When asked about House Flipper 2's fictional, idyllic town setting of Pinnacove, Bujas explained it is "a small own somewhere in the USA" that is "inspired by small fishermen's villages", something which also connects to the story, wherein Pinnacove developed from a small fishing village to a thriving tourist destination. Focusing on House Flipper 2's map size, Bujas explained there are three map regions including suburban, coastal, and forest areas, with plans to add three more post-release. As Bujas explained,

In Pinnacove, there will be three different regions playable at the release date. But we’ve got plans for three more on the map. During the game, you’ll be able to see the whole map of Pinnacove and all the real estate that will be available for three of those.

Bujas also spoke about the total number of jobs in House Flipper 2, including the job-to-region ratio,

So in House Flipper 2, we’ve got 24 jobs for players, and they’re split into three different areas. We’ve got eight jobs in the suburbs, nine on the coast, and seven in the forest.

Players who enjoy learning about the history of towns in cities in video games may also appreciate House Flipper 2's attention to detail in this area, with the ability to learn more about Pinnacove, its characters, and legends through features like posters and interactable objects like books. Like the original game, players cannot physically meet NPCs, but Bujas added that House Flipper 2's new phone job system lets players chat with characters in depth via different dialogue options.

It's also worth remembering that a big part of the House Flipper experience is a game about making money, as players complete jobs to eventually buy and flip their own houses. In House Flipper 2's story, Bujas explained that players start off taking on smaller jobs as a young house flipper, eventually building up to bigger jobs and longer renovation projects, which Bujas jokingly described as "a huge house boss."

That said, House Flipper 2 also looks to provide a relaxing game experience for players like its predecessor, whether that be through its locations or the potential for even more meditative, satisfying tool mechanics. Bujas also mentioned the forest area is "my favorite region", speaking about how the atmosphere adds to the cozy vibes players may experience,

Because players really like loneliness in House Flipper 2 - they like to chill out, just close in their world, their own space, and release their creativity. And I think in this particular environment, it does that the best, especially at night when you’ve got whispers in the trees and so on, and you’re sitting inside your cottage - that’s really cool.

House Flipper 2 releases on PC on December 14, 2023, and is planned for release on PlayStation and Xbox consoles on March 21, 2024.
